Legend of the creation (Menfis).

Maximum of Ptah-hotep, king's Isesi visir (V Dinastía, 2560-2420 to. C.), it is the oldest example of «Instruction» that is conserved entirely.     The obedient son. - 39. For an obedient son it is useful to listen. If the heard things penetrate in the listener, the one that listens becomes able to hear (the complaints). The one that listens well will know how to speak well. The one that listens sack profit of it, because to listen comes to the listener well. To listen is more profitable than any other thing, because it is this way like one makes one love. How beautiful it is to see a son accept what their father says! It will reach this way long years. The one that listens is a man to which the god loves, and the one that doesn't listen is a man to which the god hates. It is the heart the one that accustoms their possessor to listen or to not listening. The heart of a man is life, prosperity and health. All listener hears well the one that speaks, but only the one that delights in listening will work according to what is said. How beautiful it is that a son obeys his father, and how he is happy that to who is said: «What son so brilliant! How he/she knows how to obey!». The (son) docile of the one that that can be said he/she is an entirely right man and honored by their father. Their memory will be in the mouth of the men, so much of those that live in the earth like of those that will come.

    40. If a man of category accepts what his father says, none of his projects fails. Your education has to make of your son an obedient man that will be very welcomed in the opinion of the responsible ones and it will guide its mouth according to what was said. I know patient when you speak and you will say interesting things; then the dignitaries that hear you will say: «How well he/she speaks!».

    to Overcome the father. - 45. It acts so that your teacher says of you: «How good education has given him its father! It has really left him, because what their father told him took body in him and it has overcome what told him». / He/she looks, a good son, just as god gives it, it is that that overcomes what his teacher taught him: it completes the justice, since their heart acts according to its decision.

Story of Sinuhé

 

The oldest manuscripts proceed of toward the 1800. The text has also been conserved in 5 papyruses and in 17 óstraca.

The narration is located by the middle of the s. XX B.C. it was composed at the beginning of the XII dynasty, low Sesostris I (1962-1928 B.C.). The narrator, Sinuhé, Egyptian official in Amenemhet I court, counts in first person his escape of Egypt for a long period of voluntary exile. To the death of the faraón Amenemhat I (1991-1962 B.C.), Sinuhé has news of the fights for the succession and he/she decides to put safe its life. He/she escapes and it travels through Palestine until Biblos. Accepted in palace, he/she ends up marrying the daughter of the prince of Retenu. It describes their successes largely. In their age, the faraón hears speak of him and he/she invites him to return, being received with big honors and with the construction of a pyramid.

Escape of Sinuhé
