E. Shaw & Co. Prior to his current role, Nick headed the Third Market business at D.E. Shaw, which provided OTC executions in NYSE- and AMEX-listed common stocks to over a hundred broker-dealers and institutions. He has served on a number of committees of the National Association of Securities Dealers and the Securities Industry Association, and has worked with SRO and SEC regulators on issues that have reshaped the U.S. equity markets in recent years. He has a B.A. and an M.A. from Columbia University, where he was also awarded the Marjorie Hope Nicolson Fellowship, the Department of English and Comparative Literature's most prestigious graduate fellowship. Rajeev Motwani is an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Computer Science Department at Stanford University. He is known for his research in numerous areas of computer science, including computational finance, databases, data mining, and web search and information retrieval. In recognition of his work, he has received numerous awards, including the National Young Investigator Award from the National Science Foundation, and the Bergmann Memorial Award from the US-Israel Binational Science Foundation. Raman Khanna is the Chief Information Officer of Stanford University. He is a nationally recognized authority on data communication, distributed computing, networking and enterprise management systems. Raman works closely with the venture funds in Silicon Valley and has helped many high-tech startups as an advisor and board member. He was the founding Steering Committee member of the Internet2 project and now serves on its Industry Strategy Council. Ram Shriram is Managing Partner and Chief Sherpa at Sherpalo. Until recently, Ram was vice president of business development at Amazon.com, reporting to Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO. During Ram's tenure at Amazon.com he grew the customer count from 3 million to 11 million users. Prior to Amazon.com, Ram was president of Junglee Corp., a company that Amazon acquired in 1998. Before joining Junglee, Ram was an early member of the Netscape Communications executive team. He initiated and built relationships with a targeted set of partners worldwide, helping Netscape to build market share and revenue momentum. In 1996, Ram crafted Netscape's indirect channels of distribution worldwide, and managed several hundred people with 16 direct reports across three continents (North America, Europe, and Asia ), producing well over half of Netscape's $346 million annual revenue. A year later, Ram oversaw the OEM and website sales functions at Netscape, and helped generate more than $100 million in revenue from Netscape's high-traffic website alone.
