The Red Card
Kissing Game
*
*
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Kagome squinted as she raised her arm to block out the sunlight out the
frosted window. Her seat was surprisingly comfortable and the view outside
could only be described as magnificent. All she could see was a large patch
of green...with a jerk, the train suddenly swerved a corner, causing Kagome
to shift closer to a smiling Hojo.
"Nice weather, isn't it Kagome?" He asked, whilst taking a sip of a cold
can of coke. She just nodded and continued looking out the sun-streaked
window.
After a quick approval by her delighted parents, Kagome was allowed to
accompany Hojo to his summer cabin. She straightened out her floral
sundress and rested her head on the cool wall, completely exhausted from
the long walk with Hojo to the run-down station. It wasn't long before
blackness overtook her...

*~*~*~*~*~*~*
*
"Kagome! Wake up, we're here!" A rustling sound could be heard before her,
and she peered through her heavy eyelids to see Hojo on his tiptoes,
reaching for his backpack from the shelf above.
It didn't take long for Kagome to feel her damp face. Reaching up, she
dragged a finger across her warm cheek, only to find her face drenched in
sweat. It took her another second to figure out it wasn't only her face,
but her sore neck felt sticky, and her newly-purchased dress stuck to the
grey material of the seat.
"Hojo, you never told me this place would be so-" Kagome scrambled out of
her seat, only to place her hands on the metal part of the handle. She
screeched and instantly pulled it away. "-Goddamn hot!"
He glanced at Kagome quickly before smiling. "Otami? Of course, one of the
hottest places in Japan! Did I forget to mention that, Kagome?"
"Must just have slipped my mind." She mumbled, not wanting to get into an
argument over this, but she was positive he never mentioned the abnormal
weather.
"Well," Hojo continued, handing their tickets to the man. "I wonder if the
Wakashu students are all in Hawaii now."
"Yea." Kagome grumbled, refusing to look up from the ground. For a while
now since school ended something had been tagging at her mind. 'I wonder
how Sesshoumaru is doing...is he still on bad terms with Inuyasha?'
She was still in deep thought when Hojo asked, "Hey Kagome, I bet you
really wanted to go to Hawaii, huh?"
How could the jerk accuse her of something like that?
"No way! NOT AT ALL!" She quickly defended, a little embarrassed because
most heads were turned her way now. "I've always wanted to go to Otami at
least once, I mean, it's got a 'fashionable resort' appeal! Who gives a
damn about Hawaii?" She huffed out, holding a hand over her wheezing heart.
"Are you quite alright?" Hojo asked, and he sounded very concerned. "You
must have gotten that new disease going around, you have to remember to get
lots of rest, Kagome."
"Yea, yea." Kagome stepped out of the train, only to realise it was much
hotter out here than inside. "What the hell?"
"What?" When Hojo turned around, he was oblivious to what Kagome was
freaking out about. "What?" He repeated again.
"Look!" Kagome pointed to the large group of white-haired or bald people
ahead of them. "Everyone here's old! There are practically no young people
here!"
"Oh." Was Hojo's brilliant response. "I hadn't noticed. But here, come look
at the beach."
Sighing, Kagome hesitantly followed the excited Hojo down a set of stone
stairs, and gasped at the sight she took in. The sand was golden, and the
water was a rare blue. "It's beautiful." Kagome whispered out, breathing in
a whiff of the fresh ocean breeze. It was almost enough to make her forget
the heat.
"Are you having fun?" Hojo asked when he noticed the large smile on his
best friend's face.
Kagome swirled around and gave Hojo a quick grin. "Yeah. I haven't relaxed
in a really long time." She looked up at the circling seagulls in the air
and smiled once again. 'Come to think of it, I've been killing myself ever
since I started school here. Maybe I should learn to relax more...'
"Oh, and look." He pointed towards a medium-sized fishing boat docked at
the dock below. "My boat is anchored there. When night comes, we can go
squid fishing."
"Wow, Hojo. It's an amazing boat." Kagome complimented, and was about to
add something else when she heard lots of excitement by the shore. She
caught site of an enormous ship, speeding past the front of the tiny beach.
"Look at that huge ship. I wonder if it belongs to some celebrity."
Suddenly, the boat jerked and turned, now completely facing the beach and
coming in fast. "Hey, it's coming this way." Kagome exclaimed, squinting to
get a better look at the people on the ship. "There's someone standing at
the front of the boat!"
A person, who appeared to look like a man, had his hands on his hips, and
even at this distance looked really arrogant. "I could swear I've seen that
silhouette somewhere before..." Kagome grumbled to herself and looked up,
only to have the sunrays filter into her eyes. "Arrgghhh..."
Shutting them abruptly, Kagome saw little dancing faeries, and when she
opened her damaged eyes again; Inuyasha was the man standing at the front
of the boat!
Both her and Hojo screamed at the exact same time. What in the world was he
doing here, of all people? 'If this is a dream, wake me up.'
"Yo." Was his common greeting when he pulled up in front of the speechless
and shocked pair. "What are you doing in this back-water area?"
Kagome's throat felt like sandpaper just then. Was she just shy in front of
him? Or was she just so angry and shocked that she wanted to strangle him?
It was probably the second one.
Just then Miroku and Kouga stepped out of the boat, looking completely
shocked to see her here. "Hey, it's Kagome!" Kouga yelled, and to top off
this terrible situation, Kikyou, Yura, and a few other girls from her
school stepped out the doorway.
"Have we arrived, Inuyasha?" Asked Kikyou, who for some reason came along
on their trip, and was sucking up to Inuyasha. Wait...why did she care? She
couldn't care less what happened to that bastard! Kikyou's gaze finally
left Inuyasha for a second, only to dawn upon Kagome. "Kyahhhh! What's she
doing here?"
"No way!" Panicked Yura, who looked like she just ruined her manicured
nails.
"H-Hey!" Kagome retorted angrily. "That's what I'd like to know! What about
Hawaii? Huh?"
"We've been to Hawaii like ten times already." Inuyasha replied
nonchalantly. "Now the trend is to go somewhere without a lot of young
people. So anyway, what do you think of my yacht?"
"This...this boat is yours?" Kagome asked, shocked beyond question. But,
didn't yachts only belong to people like...Oprah? Inuyasha's snobbish
attitude was starting to get on her nerves, probably because she was just
jealous.
"Naturally." He grinned. "It's something you'll never be able to ride on in
your whole life." Kagome felt like hurting him just then, but not in front
of the astonished crowd. Relax...relax...relax...
"Well now! What a coincidence! You two came to Otami as well?" Looking
around, Kagome identified the voice as Kagura's. She was wearing a sundress
as well, but for some reason it looked tons better on her. Just when Kagome
thought she looked cute in one of those...
"Sesshoumaru, you're here too?" Kagome yelled out instantly once she
noticed him. He replied with a nod and once again became engrossed in what
he was looking at previously.
Kagura smiled her million-dollar smile. "Well, isn't this perfect! We're
having a party onboard this evening, Kagome. Won't you join us?" Just then
the moans and whines of the girls behind the model popped up.
Kagome was invited, to this yacht party? Her throat lacked water again, and
she felt like having a coughing fit. On Kikyou or Yura, preferably.
Kikyou looked as if she swallowed a cactus. "But, Kagura, don't you know
what kind of a girl this is?" She glared at Kagome with disgust. "How can
you invite her?"
"You're being rude, ladies." Kagura informed, ignoring the steam coming out
of the girls' ears.
"B - besides, this is a formal party." Yura added with a nod. "What would
she possibly wear?"
Hating to admit it, Yura was right for once in her life. She had no fancy
dresses at home, let alone here. "I'll lend you one of my dresses." Offered
Kagura immediately, still giving the other girls dirty looks.
"Eh?! That's okay, really, I'm fine!" Kagome refused with the shaking of
her head, and the raising of her hands politely in front of her face. She
didn't want to seem like a charity case. Especially in front of all these
spoilt sonofa...
"Don't worry about it." Interrupted Kagura with a smile. "The party will be
better with more people. Right, Sess?"
"Sure." He answered, still with that unconcerned look on his face. "Why
don't you come?" Kagome felt her face heat up more, as if that was even
possible in this weather.
Right away Kagome was heading towards the boat with Kagura, and the other
girls had backed away in sheer anger and jealousy. "I'll do your makeup for
you. And we'll have to pick out a dress." Kagura said while stepping into
the luxurious yacht. Kagome could only nod in reply while she followed her
in.
Back on the beach, a rude man could be heard shouting and cursing while
waving his arms in the air. Someone else had to hold him back before he
attacked someone.
"Why did HE get to invite her?!!" Inuyasha raved, still threatening to kill
his ex-friend. "I was supposed to do that!"
"Now, now." Miroku soothed, while twisting Inuyasha's arm around and
ignored his screams of protest. "Just calm down Inuyasha..."

Sitting in Kagura's room, Kagome had on one of those things they wrapped
around you when you went to get a haircut. Kagura had all her makeup out
and looked ecstatic. "I'm having so much fun. I'm an only child, so I've
always wanted a little sister with whom I could play like this. Since those
four are all boys, I can't really dress them up."
Kagome smiled and nodded. Kagura was really nice, and she couldn't help but
admire this role model before her. "Um...have Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru made
up yet?"
"No, it doesn't look that way." She answered, reaching for a hairbrush in
her box. "Inuyasha can be a little childish sometimes."
"Yeah..." Kagome agreed, and continued to look at their reflections in the
mirror. Their head sizes were completely different, and Kagura was about 10
cm taller than her.
"You've got such strong, thick hair." Explained Kagura, who was fixing
Kagome's makeup for the while. "I'm envious."
"R - really?" How this woman could envy her hair, she'd never know. But it
did manage to make her feel a tad better about herself. Kagura then
scrambled over to her closet and pulled out a little number. "I've found
the perfect dress for you, I'll make you really cute and surprise
everyone!"

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
*
Cinderella's ball...was beginning.
Kagome wondered through the lush hallways of the boat. Chandeliers and
grand staircases, which could probably match the Titanic's, but that ship
did sink...
"Kagura, I really don't feel very comfortable like this." Kagome admitted
while trying to balance on her new high heels.
"Why wouldn't you? You look very cute." Kagura informed her and together
they made their way to the grand doorway. Peering through the window, the
party had already begun. "Come on. Let's go."
Kagome nodded lightly and followed Kagura into the elegant ballroom.
"Everyone," Introduced Kagura. "Sorry to keep you all waiting. Here she
is."
A gasp rolled throughout the room.
Now it felt like the time had ceased moving, because just then all eyes
were on her, inspecting her every movement. Surprisingly, the snug white
dress had fit her perfectly, and the bottom hung out like a bell. Kagura
had insisted on waving her hair and adding extensions. She also had on fake
eyelashes and some eyeliner. When she first looked at herself in the mirror
she couldn't believe what she saw. And neither did anyone else.
"Wow...is that Kagome?" She heard a guy speak out.
"She sure is cute!"
"I can't believe it!" Squealed a girl in the corner of the room.
"That's the 'limited edition' Chanel dress! What was Kagura thinking
lending it to her?" Kikyou gritted out of her clenched teeth.
Miroku pushed through the crowd, smiling. "Kagome, lookin' good! I knew you
would shine when polished enough!"
Kouga shoved Miroku aside and added. "Great job, Kagura!" Kagome blushed at
everyone's attention towards her. 'I feel like a princess...'
Hojo rushed up towards her in a white tuxedo, blushing like a beet.
"Kagome...wow! You look amazingly beautiful!"
"Thanks." She wasn't quite listening to her blubbering friend because she
saw Inuyasha standing in the back, mouth open with shock. Glancing over,
Sesshoumaru was leaned against the wall. He smiled when he saw her look his
way. "You look cute."
Now Kagome felt like a tomato and was thankful when the lights turned off.
Wait a minute...the lights turned off? It was pitch black and the crowd
started panicking.
"Kyaahhhh! The lights! What's going on!"
Suddenly, a voice blared from the speakers around the room. "Ladies and
gentlemen. Welcome to our one-minute event. Kissing time under the cover of
darkness!" Kagome felt all her intestines slop around in her stomach. They
hadn't mentioned anything like this... The voice continued to explain the
rules, "Feel free to kiss anyone you like to your heart's content. Of
course, anyone who wishes the room may leave now."
Kagome would have left, if they've goddamn TURNED OFF THE LIGHT AFTER THEY
SAID THAT! She headed towards the exit, accidentally bumping into busy
couples. She didn't want to think about whom she had to kiss...if it were
someone sick like Kikyou or Yura, she'd never live it down and would
probably cut off her lips.
"Where are the Y4?" Screamed a girl out of nowhere.
"Kagura, answer me, please!!!"
"Hey, who's this?"
Shouts of that kind and screams penetrated the air as Kagome stumbled
throughout the crowd and was making her way to the barely lit exit sign
when...she stumbled over something and was stopped abruptly by crashing
into someone's chest. Flat chest, let me assure you. But before she knew
it, the force of her fall resulted in colliding into the face of the
person.
Before she could apologize, their lips met. It came on as a complete
surprise to Kagome, who had never kissed ANYONE before, except for her
family. The kiss was gentle, and she was just about to pull away when -
"All right ladies and gentlemen. We're turning the lights back on! Take a
good look at your partner!"
Kagome blinked once. Then twice. The light took a while to get used to.
Glancing up, the face she did not want to see most in this situation
appeared before her.
Inuyasha.

A/N: Bwahahahaha *insert more evil laughter in here* I'm evil! ^_^ This was
the first chapter in which I didn't rely completely on the manga and
changed the storyline around a bit!
The website I usually visit took Hana Yori Dango off their website, so if
anyone has scans of volume three please review or email me. Don't worry to
those who are concerned, I am slowly finding it hard to follow the manga
accurately. And plus, I want more originality in it if possible. Thanks
again to all reviewers, all your questions should be answered shortly ^_^
Don't forget my motto! More reviews=faster updates!
