All That Your Love Would Ask of Me

I could not know, I could not see
where I would find the strength to bear
all that your love would ask of me.

         How such an apprehensive me
            eventually would come to fare,
I could not know, I could not see
But feared what would become of me
if once I gave in to your care
all that your love would ask of me.

That you'd not seek to injure me
but nurture me with tender care,
I could not know, I could not see
Till steadfast patience drew from me
the self so bold it chose to share
all that your love would ask of me.

Then found your sole request to be:
To live--as fully as I dare!
I could not know, I could not see
all that your love would ask of me.
