Readings for Week 18

Read: Pages 211-218

Thoughts for the Week:

Since you are "change"--and since change is
the only thing constant about you--you cannot
truthfully promise to always be the same. (211)

A master is a person who knows what he is
doing
. (213)

Betrayal of yourself in order not to betray
another is betrayal nonetheless. It is the
highest betrayal. (214)

Why would you want to force another to do
anything against his will? (215)

If another person does not keep an agreement,
you will simply allow them to walk their path,
make their choices and create their own experience
of themselves. And whatever they have not given
you, you will not miss for you will know that
there is "more where that came from"--and that
they are not your source of that, but you are." (218

Look for the answers to these questions:

 1. What is the lie built into every promise? (211)
 2. How is it that there appears to be consistency
    in the universe? (212)
 3. What is a master? (213)
 4. How may a promise cause a person to experience
a conflict with their authenticity? (214)
 5. What happens when you let someone "off the hook"
    on a promise? (216)
6a. What would happen if we change our cultural ethic
to include an understanding that we are all One? (217)
 b. How would our sharing be done then? (217)
 7. What would this kind of giving cause us to
    experience? (217)
 8. What is life about? (217)

Things to Think About:

Did anything in the readings challenge your thoughts on
promises? What has been your experience with promises?
Have you ever made a promise you later wished you
hadn't? What happened because of it?

on which this information can be found.
