Readings for Week 3

Read: Pages 27-38

Thoughts for the Week:

Most humans are not equipped to raise children even
in their 30s and 40s--and shouldn't be expected to
be. They haven't really lived enough as adults to
pass deep wisdom to their children. (34)

How can you teach your children a truth you haven't
yet gathered? (34)

Look for the answers to these questions:

 1. Why is the process of parenting usually so
     difficult? (28)
2a. Who was meant to bear children? (29)
 b. To raise them? (30)
 3. How have we created a taboo around sex? (30)
 4. What was sex intended to be? (30)
 5. Why will our offspring pay little attention to
the taboo we have created around sex? (30)
 6. Why have children come to accept that their
     sexuality is unnatural? (31)
 7. Why are we angry about sex? (32)
 8. What root thought is at the bottom of many of
     society's problems? (34)
 9. What are our younger years meant for? (34)
10. What is the nature of truth? (35)
11. Why should the elders raise the children? (35)
12. How have we devalued our elders? (36)
13. Why are so many of us now living in emotional
and psychological poverty and depletion? (36)

Things to Think About:

How do you feel about the idea of turning children
over to be raised by elders (within the parameters
outlined on pages 35-36)?

How do you feel about accepting the role of being
an elder?

The numbers in parenthesis after the quotes
and questions refer to the pages of CWG3 on
which this information can be found.
