Profile

"This painting goes back to 1989 when I created my "7 paintings in 7 days" as a Senior Thesis for the Museum School in Boston, MA. This was one of the paintings exhibited in 1991 at Howard University in an exhibit organized by Paul Goodnight for the National Council for the Arts. The seven paintings were of influential and/or controversial men in Black American history. You see, the Museum School is predominately White, and I wanted to present representations of some of the most powerful African Americans I could think of at the time. Controversy can be a powerful tool."
