And who will read all of this? Anyone interested in vicarious living could find more interesting substitutes, surely! I'm just blowing smoke into the wind in the hopes that I brighten someone's life. *smile* That and I like to rant.
Shall we begin with the dry stats? I am 19 (just celebrated the birthday) and 5'1". I have reddish-brown hair down past my waist, brown eyes, and a pale complexion.
I am French-Cajun by birth, but please don't hold that against me. I've spent most of my life in Texas, but have lived in Singapore for the past year and a half. I have now returned to the Cowboy Womb, where I will study biochemistry (premed) at the University of Texas. I want to be a doctor (general practitioner) when I grow up (*laughter*)...at the moment my goal is working for WHO, CARE, or a similar organization. And I'm a vegetarian who craves Indian food constantly, and longs for the impossible--finding coconut juice (no, not coconut milk) and a good cup of iced lemon tea in Austin.
Interests...hmmm...I'm sure I have them...just give me a second...
All right, I love reading sci-fi and fantasy (and medieval
history, mythology, psychology, philosophy, and anything else that comes to
hand), and write a great deal of short stories and poetry. I admire the works of Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell,
especially (probably the two greatest human influences on the way I think), and Robert Anton Wilson is coming up on those as I read more of his work. My favorite spec-fic authors are Margaret Weis and Tracy
Hickman, David Eddings, Isaac Asimov, and Philip K Dick, non-sci-fi are Tom
Robbins, Margaret Atwood, and Robert Anton Wilson (I think I mentioned him already); my favorite
Pagan authors are Scott Cunningham, Silver RavenWolf, and Raymond
Buckland. I like music of all sorts,
from rock to Celtic/New Age to opera...don't
get me started (well, perhaps just a bit...Joan Baez, Sting, the Cranberries, Natalie Merchant, Melissa Etheridge, John Lennon, Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, the Indigo Girls, Live, Cris Williamson, Pink Floyd, Sheryl Crow, Loreena McKennit, Sarah McLachlan, the Eagles, Alanis Morisette, Tori Amos, et. al...plus the work put out by Narada publishing)! My favorite musician is Ani Difranco. I also enjoy RPGs and play the flute. TV I normally avoid, but I like British comedy (Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Red Dwarf, Monty Python, Black Adder, the Young Ones,
and Fawlty Towers are among my favorites), Mystery Science Theater 3000,
the Simpsons, the Pretender, South Park, the Tick, Animaniacs/Pinky and the Brain, the X-files, and Star Trek. My favorite movie is either The Princess Bride or
Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and my favorite book is,
without a doubt, The Illuminatus! Trilogy (hail Eris!), followed closely by Robbins' Skinny Legs and All.
About the real Destruction...I tend to set high standards for
myself...I try not to judge others, and in turn refuse to be
judged by others,
but my harshest criticism is always reserved for myself and my
own work...in short, I am my own worst enemy, my own greatest
inspiration, and, potentially, my own best friend. I am the most
antisocial of the Panic Daemons, often being happier alone, but
I'm hardly a misanthrope...I am a "pessimistic optimist" (and an
idealist with occasional bouts of bitterness or cynicism) who
tries hard to see the good in people. We all have something to
learn from each other. I don't see myself as a typical Capricorn...
I have ambitions, yes, but competition has no interest for me,
and taking it easy holds more appeal than the hard-driving,
go-out-and-grab-what-you-want approach (i.e., I am a lazy
procrastinator! hurrah!). And, in case you haven't noticed, I
will philosophize at the drop of a hat. I am very liberal (I took a quiz once, and came up "as-liberal-as-you-can-possibly-get"), radically feminist, strongly pro-choice, pacifistic and wobbling somewhere between libertarian, anarchist, and socialist political beleifs (so I'm experimenting. Sue me). You get the idea.
I have two cats (Explorer and Patches), and until very recently two zebra finches (whom Callie Eldredge murdered in cold blood. *big grin*), and otherwise live alone in north Austin. My dad, brother, basset hound Samantha (pictured below), and kitten Turkey live in Shanghai, China.
I tend to shun sports, but exercise daily (due to Death's foul
grip on my mind...she's obsessed!!) and like hiking and the
outdoors (mainly limited to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve in Singapore). I am Wiccan...see my Pagan page for
more information on that...don't want to scare the unprepared
viewer...Cheers.
My baby, Samantha
Until then, all of the links and sites that have caught my interest are on the group links page.
When she came she was silent, Watching waiting to pounce, They said she was shy, Said she was quiet, Some even called her a grouch. There was one girl called Wuchi, A wonderful brilliant lass *g*, Yet she did not suspect, The terror that awaited her, For she tried to make conversation, Tried and tried then gave up, And when she found out, It was then too late. For it came out of nowhere, A sudden show of her true colours, The shell of silence now shattered, The psychotic comments spill out. She filled her head with strange thoughts, Of Trolls, druids and Ralph, Her whole world now turned upside down, Driven to eating flesh *g*, Wuchi has met her doom.
