Note: This page badly needs to be updated and improved. I intend for it to end up quite a bit more comprehensive. Please bear with me.
This is a separate page so as not to offend my non-pagan cohabitants (*grin*). I (the Panic Daemon of Destruction) am a Pagan...a solitary Wiccan following an eclectic path. For all those readers who know what that means...merry meet and blessed be! For all those who don't...merry meet as well, and hold on...
Scott Cunningham (in The Truth About Witchcraft Today)
gives the following criteria to define Witchcraft (and the
same applies for any Pagan path) in its more common
forms, and I agree fully:
See the links below for some really cool stuff on Wicca and Paganism.
Lazy Author's Note: I intend to add a basic outline of pagan ritual, Sabbats and Esbats, tools, etc. when I get the time. Again, bear with me.
Plato said that God alone deserves to be called wise...all others
should be called merely lovers of wisdom. Truth ("God") is infinite and
many-faceted, and all that we as limited beings can do is find
a fragment of the truth that suits us. Each individual path
mirrors the whole...but none is the whole...for our doctrines
impose limitations by nature. When you define something, you restrict
it...which leaves you with a part, not the whole. But every
path, religious or non-religious, seeks the same goal, union
with God (in whatever form He/She/It/or They take) and, consequently,
with the Self, the divine within.
What is this much-touted "pagan lifestyle"? To most pagans, their spirituality provide guidance, and this guidance comes from within. There are no "holy books" or gurus to determine what is right or wrong...this is done by the individual. To me (and, I emphasize, this is only MY individual opinion), a pagan lifestyle hinges upon respect--for Mother Earth, for the persons and ideas of others, and even for oneself. A pagan will try to take responsibility for her or his actions, rather than passing the buck. And it begins with a truthful and realistic evaluation of the Self.
The Gods of Wicca are within, immanent within all things, including the human soul. Each of us contains a spark of divinity within, which we strive to find and express through life. There is no need for messiahs or dogma to tell you what is right or how to "save" your soul (there's no need to save your soul from anything, only to find it). The answer lies within; "heaven" is attained through self-realization. Thus, every moment, every action, every situation, becomes holy, every individual is a God or Goddess, every tree or flower or mountain is an expression of the divine spirit. Well...that's enough preaching. Let's link!!
Please note: There are many, many wonderful Wiccan/Pagan web sites out there, and many other web sites that list more of them than I could ever hope for. A good search engine should uncover them in the hundreds. These are just my favorite sites on this subject.
