Once you have all your pictures, you'll need a program to string them all together in the order you want.  Okay.  Here's a program that you can use to paste many JPG files into an AVI, and even include a WAV file for a nice soundtrack!  It is a good enough program that I bought the registered version for $69.00.  Here you can cut, copy, paste, delete, rename, sequence, and everything you need to create your movie.  I recommend using full frames (no compression) for best quality.  This shareware version is fully functional, but puts a nagging banner across your movies.  You can use the preview feature to see where the banner will be.  Try to place it at the top or bottom of the screen.  If it's in the middle, click cancel and try again.  I'm looking for a shareware package that has a less annoying nag.  If you find one please let me know.

When you're done making your first movie, you'll be shocked at the girth of the file you've created. (Sammy2.AVI was 50MB) When you are faced with this then, hey, here's a program that converts an AVI file to an MPG. This program is actually free.  That's right, friends.  Free.  No obligation, and no salesman will call.  It works very well, crunching an AVI to an MPG of about 5% of the original size with little loss of quality. (Sammy2.MPG is 2.5 MB) It must be run from the DOS command line, but it's not so bad for free.

Also, I need some help resizing photo's (JPG).  I'd love to find a program that can perform a batch resize of a whole bunch of pic's so I can make my clips smaller in size.  This will enable longer movies, and lower compression in the initial photos.  If you find or know of one, please contact me.
