Carey tries to bring this to light, but Belinda's step-father insists on a marriage. Frank complies, not remembering the true nature of the indiscretion. At Belleterre, Robert tries to apologize for his earlier actions. Madison spends the afternoon picnicking with Jack anyway, but does not notice the mysterious figure watching them from the trees. Nick's horse disturbs a bees nest, and he whisks Rilla away in rather close quarters. Will and Marietta cross their path, and Marietta becomes even more suspicious of Rilla's motives, vowing to speak to Nick about it herself. Madison gets out of hand drinking and gambling in a nearby town. Robert challenges her in both until he realizes she has lost control of herself, insisting on taking her home. But Madison's charms are too much, and they end up entering her cabin together. Frank and Belinda are married in England, but the wedding is almost stopped when her half-brother Freddie returns home. In San Francisco, Nick and Tess arrive to visit the Hewitts and Georgie tells Tess of the appearance of one of her customers from New York. Carlson has since sent a letter-offering his continued silence if Georgie will sleep with him. Before it can be discussed further, Georgie goes into labor. In England, Grace receives a summons back to Belleterre and Carey considers returning with her. They also receive word that Allie Johnston, Frank's scorned fiancée, has attempted suicide. And at Belleterre, after relating to her mother the incident with the bees, Rilla sends her daughters to play in that same area.
In Episode 65, Sheriff Gowan investigates Jonathan's death. Madison is the prime suspect until Robert offers an alibi, and a perfectly innocent one, and the death is ruled accidental. Cole manages to get the truth about Madison's night with Robert, but then admits to her that it was he who killed Jonathan. David, Hildy, and Ada encounter the bees and Hildy receives the brunt of the severe attack. Will arrives to help and Hildy is taken to his house, gravely ill. He sympathizes with Rilla, but Marietta is more skeptical than ever. Meanwhile, Carey has arrived to see about Allie. She will survive, but her parents are sending her to recover in a sanitorium in Virginia. Finally, in San Francisco, Georgie gives birth to a son: Randall Stuart Jeremiah Hewitt.
