Diamond CaliburOrdinary. She was anything but that. Her name was Kurisutaru Mugen, or just Kuri. A young teenager who had plenty of differences, according to the outside world. They called them multiple personalities, or just insanity. Kuri never thought they were weird. She was a tomboy as well. Sometimes people thought she was too masculine. It wasnt because of her being a tomboy, it was because of her ego. In her case, egos, or Alters, were like split personalities. At first she thought she just had a male ego. After living through certain situations, however, she found more. Three others.Kuri had many talents: art, writing, technology. She adored computers, and one day on the Internet, she had met her first love. His name was Dante. Kuri had several best friends. Faith, her best friend, has known Kuri since sixth grade. So has Renea, another best friend who calls the three of them sisters. What have you found on our little search for a strong male? a deep voice called from a shadowed throne. Well, Sir..we found that the strongest male ego here in this time is a male called SS3, a bowing man replied. This unknown dimension was reigned by evil dominant male egos, the ones that possess regular human males to make them hurt others-especially females. Their leader, Evince, was seeking and scanning every other male ego in the real world to make sure he is the strongest. SS3? What male body is he in? he leaned back in his throne gazing at the crouching figure. The man wouldnt reply, but lowered his head and seemed to be shaking. Evince lifted an eyebrow in wonder, Well? Theres this girl, Sir, he started. Evince gave no expression as he listened. So? Shes not like the others, Sir. What do you mean? Shes one of us. Evince gasped angrily. Kuri has known about SS3, her male ego, ever since she was in third grade. The others appeared gradually: Evailia, Royailia, and Child Royailia. Around the time of seventh grade, Kuri trusted Faith enough to tell her about the Alters. Faith was fine with it, but Renea was reluctant to believe any of it. Of course, Dante hadnt known either. No, she couldnt do that. Thats too risky for their relationship, even if they hadnt met. Kuri and Faith were both going to the mall the next afternoon; to meet Dante and his friend Zachary--Faiths boyfriend. Of course, these types of relationships were forewarned, but something kept lurking in the girls about the two. Kuri awoke and took out her hair bow. As she sat up, a male voice crept through her head. Her eyes went blank. Are you sure youre ready for this? Yes, she said mechanically, never been more ready for anything in my life. The voice did not respond, and light filled her eyes again. Her and Faith were dropped off at the mall, as planned. The two took repeated steps toward the arcade. Both kept quiet, the silence spoke the obvious nervousness each was feeling. Finally, the arcade was reached; and two tall boys stood playing a flashing console. DanteZach? Faith croaked. The shorter one turned first. Dirty blonde hair, bluish eyes, midbuilt and about six feet and one inch tall. The shorter one, Zach, smiled. Arent you just lovelier than imagined? Zach hugged Faith. Kuri stood shy of Dante, and allowed him to finish his game. He turned and hugged her. Thin eyes opened and with a hostile light they gleamed brightly. A large male stood before a crystal. The crystal was somewhat heart shaped with stones representing fire and ice. Light embodied it and grew larger. As the others were watching Faith try a game, Kuri felt a low tug within her chest. Oh, no, she whispered. A large glow brewed in her eyes and shot out like beams. She disappeared. Floating, her feet slowly met the ground. The large male walked to her from ahead, smiling faintly when Dante, Zach and Faith appeared behind her. SS3? Kuri asked confused, what--why do you have us all here? He turned and walked to the two humongous metallic silver doors from which he came. Instinctively she followed, the others stammering behind. Finally, once inside the next room, the three bewildered ones became in awe. A large monitor was to their right, pitch black with a flat gray line in the center horizontally. SS3, a tall masculine figure with white eyes, never faced them, but watched the screen. His hair was a bright blonde, awesomely spiked with a long bang over his right eye. Dante noted the apparel of the strange man: white muscle shirt, navy blue baggy pants, and black combat boots. When SS3 would shift his head a golden loop earring was noticed dangling from his left ear. Whats going on? Kuri stood closer. I need your help, he started, the One has warned me of upcoming actions and I need to be prepared. The One. Only SS3 knows all about the One, but is sworn to keep all secret. Kuri had heard stories about the One, but had never seen him. He is suppose to be her future lover, the one shes meant to be with. SS3 serves the One by keeping Kuri safe. Faith took a step forward, upcoming actions? SS3 looked to her, yes. Zach quietly pinched his wrist, where are we? Whats going on? SS3 smirked, but never answered. He just walked away, how do the two of you feel about perfect males? Zach looked to Dante. But this is insanity! A tall, dark-headed woman yelled to a glowing white figure. It, too, was a woman, a bit shorter than the first one. Her hair was bright blonde like SS3s, she stood on an engraved glowing circle on the floor. Sister, please, the gentle one pleaded. He cant do this! What? I mean he wants to train boys to be men against males? Theyre too young! Theyre MALES! Theyll turn against like the egos! The woman stopped pacing, her blue dress draping. Theyre males, Royailia, you already know they cant be trusted. Sir, when shall we send the Minions? You tell me SS3 is hiding within a female, correct? Get the girl, and drain his power; with him gone I shall conquer! Kuri looked back to her friends with sad and sorry eyes. They looked back to her obviously confused. SS3 walked towards them again, staring particularly at the young men. Ill need your help, the story is awkward, and even I myself will be hard to explain, he looked to a nodding Faith. We dont have much time to train; I have to bring out your utmost power through your egos. He stopped, your soul, to your understanding. The flat gray line on the screen moved as an equalizer as a female voice broke through the laboratory, Father, initiate training unit? SS3 glanced up at the large computer, you may begin, SEMI. The line went flat again, and the window that matched SEMIs size on the other side of the lab appeared. Through the window was a vast room of basically grid. Kuri barely covered her mouth with a loose fist looking concerned; she walked over and grasped SS3s left arm. Now, look here, Steroid-man! I dont know whats going on; you cant make me do anything if I dont agree! Zachary stepped forward forming fists. SS3 stood still again, staring into the arena, Zach still behind him awaiting a response. Cant? SS3 murmured. Zach grunted. SS3 turned only his head, his white eyes glowing with the light from the arena. Before he knew it, a burst of disturbance broke through and Zachary found himself in the wall twenty feet behind; pieces of it were falling. Dante and Faith gasped, Kuri sneered at SS3. SS3 turned completely to face the fallen boy. I can make you do anything; you do want to keep Faith safe, correct? Zach got himself off the rubble and gazed angrily at the massive figure ahead of him. Then he looked down, holding and injured right arm. Dont let your pride get to you now; perfectuse this in training. SS3 walked back to SEMI typing, the four stared at each other. SS3 finally had the three cooperating. His goal was to have them learn how to harness their egos--the boys anyway; he just wanted Faith to learn to fight. Each fought simulations of the evil male egos, gravity or not. Each learned how to call upon their elements--their Zodiacs powers. After the main part of training, Dante found SS3 cleaning a large round tube. Whats that for? he came from behind. SS3 wiped his hands with a small cloth, Egos can fuse here, or I can just heal a fighter, I suppose. Egos can fuse? he touched the cold glass, flattening his left palm against it. SS3 sighed, dreading the explanation. I can combine them within these tubes, he started, Ill most likely need to for this war. War? Who are you even against? SS3 started walking off, Dante followed, hesitating. A bad male ego has the impression he can kill me. His name is Evince, so SEMI tells me, and he wants me--the Perfect Male--dead so he can be the strongest male ego. Hes manipulated many mortal men to think like him and do his dirty work. He stopped, understand? My sisters and I have strong feelings about your ego, we need your help to fight. But if youre so strong and perfect--cant you do it all yourself? Dante crossed his arms. SS3 grinned, its me theyre after, I have to keep everyone safe at the same time. So all the responsibility is on me--all these decisions and actions--that takes strength and perfection. Just because youre fighting doesnt mean youre in danger. Evince smirked in his dark realm; his minions awaiting below and ahead of him. A carpet of shadowed pawns covering much of the cold floor. Their leader looked to them, their response was a deep red glow from their slender eyes. The minions--each were all equally built, same height, same shape, same black figure. You couldnt see their features, just black silhouettes with red empty eyes. Evince stood before them, attack the Perfect Male; bring me the girl. The minions saluted with an eerie tilt of their heads with a snap. The first row became active, while the rest remained silent with their heads still tilted. One minion held out a fist in excitement, claim us the Perfect one! Their bodies seemed to skid as they left. The two boys were in SS3s glass tubes preparing their egos. Faith had fallen asleep, and Kuri and SS3 were talking in front of SEMI. I think they have done well, he murmured. Kuri leaned back, looking up, when red lights filled the lab. WARNING--WARNING--EMERGENCY SYSTEM ACTIVATED. Faith ran into the lab, whats going on?! A minion was watching from above. SS3 flinched and looked up, seeing a shadow on a vent. It jumped down, the rest of the minions followed, surrounding the three. The leader stepped forward to SS3, who vanished back into Kuri. The two girls were touching back to back. Give us the male, he stated. Thats somethin' you don't hear everyday," Kuri growled. She took Faith's hand with a wise smile and they appeared in front of the tubes. "SEMI! You know what to do!" Dante's ego was transparent, not even a complete body, it appeared behind her; when she faced it, it went inside her. A transformation began. Faith stood appalled. A tall slender figure with sunglasses remained when the show was over. Kuri had become Dante. K-Kurisutaru? she stammered. Yeah, amazing isnt it? Kuri grabbed Faiths wrist with her left hand, and pulled out a pistol with her right as they ran. The minions were chasing them, moving like dogs and monkeys as they leaped over machines and tools. We have to lead them back! Kuri looked back and quickly shot, missing, dang it! Kuri was running towards a wall. Faith looked ahead and became wide-eyed. Kuri just kept pulling, Faiths wrist slipped a bit. Kuri! Stop! Kuri was too convinced, but she had little doubt in her mind, just trust me! The wall grew ahead of them, Kuri dashed into the surface. The two of them were floating, everything was false-colored at first. When they glanced at each other, it was as if they were being rippled in water. W-we made it..., Faith questioned, glancing at the darkness, but--what is this place? Kuri took a step, and a tap was heard. She moved her other foot and the odd atmosphere disappeared--the colors returned to normal, echoes were heard, and the ripple-like heat waves were gone. The wall behind them was no longer there. Faith held herself, looking around watching the ground surrounding her. It was impossible to tell walls from floors from ceilings. Kuri just kept walking on. They dont know how long, or far, they had paced. Kuri stopped, they were suppose to be here. What? You wanted them to follow us? Faith took her hair back into a ponytail. It was mid-trimmed and golden with deep blue streaks hinting. She gazed at her best friend, still adjusting to Kuris..well... maleness. And you trained because--? Kuri asked, trying to remind Faith of her reason. Faith just looked, almost saddened by the truth. Shrieking and faint mad laughter was being heard from which they came. Kuri and Faith just looked at each other as if one of them was known to die. The noise got louder, closer, worse. Then when they thought the minions were right there, the noise died. The two looked around, stepping closer to each other, back to back as before. They became surrounded with red eyes. Kuri murmured to Faith, dont forget your training. Yeehah! Faith yelled, she leaped up, turned in the air floating. She crossed her arms as an x and opened them. The ground broke and arose beneath their feet and energy shot through, beam by beam. Faith landed with a knee up, booya! Some minions fell, some just cursed. Kuri smiled, held her arms above her head forming a semi-circle. A circle formed around her feet and waves of water shot up like a round shield circling her. She pulled back her right hand, thrust it forward and the waves followed and drenched the dark ones. Kuri stumbled, light was breaking through her body. Already? No! Stop! She held herself and the male body dispersed. Kuris normal body was still holding herself, eyes shut, and she fell. She had a suit on now, like a wet suit. It started at her neck, and formed boots on her feet, all was one piece. Most of it was light green, then there were some blue areas. Faith had one on now too, after she has used her element. Hers was orange, black and dark blue. She kneeled and poked Kuris arm. Kuri grunted as if it were a school day and she didnt want to get up. A faint roar was heard from where they came. Like the mad laughter, it grew louder. A roar? An odd hum? An engine. A loud, angry engine. Faith kept distracting the minions, lifting and shifting the ground beneath them. Two bright lights shone on her face, she held an arm up until they turned off. What the! A sports car rested ahead of her. Kuri picked herself up, and stared at the car. It was very large, faint silver, tented windows. Thats a-- Faith pointed. The Firewall, Kuri walked to the drivers side. She looked slightly annoyed. The window lowered--Dante. What are you doing?! Youre driving the Countach! Kuri screamed. From the passenger seat, Zach answered, had to get her somehow. Kuri hissed, so thats why the ego disappeared. Kuri was driving now, even though she was too young. She kept going at the same slow speed watching the empty area. Faith was in the passenger seat, staring out the window. The two boys in the back never said anything, it was too awkward. The father they drove, the lighter it became. Everything was a darker gray instead of a pitch black. Kuris eyes became void of light for a brief instant, the light returned after she blinked. Too empty, too quiet, she said in a lower, slightly accented voice. Faith gazed at her. Kuri looked at her then back ahead. You again, Zach said. Kuri glanced at him through the rearview mirror. Evailia was watching a map of the group on SEMI with stern eyes. Theyre almost to the throne, she said, without blinking. Royailia was farther behind Evailia, glowing immensely. Evailia gritted her teeth lightly in prayer, please be careful, Brother. SS3 was still possessing Kuri, he heard Evailia, possession up to fifty percent, you may stay in this state and complete it during battle. If he was to reach one hundred percent, her body would transform into his--much like with Dantes ego. Otherwise, its just him speaking, thinking, and acting as her--this is the most common of the Alters states. Why are there no more egos? Dante asked after a few minutes. A great red blur built ahead of them. SS3 leaned forward trying to get a better look. The blur turned to a mosaic haze. SS3s eyes widened, he turned the steering wheel completely. The three grabbed to the sides and seats, the car skid and stopped with its left side facing the red. The red. The glow. The stare. Minions. Dante opened his eyes, Faith was just now sitting upright and Zach was rubbing his right arm. SS3 was still staring, he slowly opened the door and stepped under it. The Firewall was still fine, a Lamborghini SS3 had built in his lab. The red pairs separated and now the three could tell they were eyes of the minions. Just defeat this group, and youre closer to Evince, Brother. Perfect male! Perfect male! Kill the girl! GET the girl! They all shouted, running freakishly towards the four. Here the first major battle began. Faith got out of the Firewall and hit the ground with her fist as hard as she could to make it shake again. The minions floated and laughed at her attempt. Dante and Zach dashed out of the vehicle, and almost instinctively the Firewall left with the inner control of SEMI. The minions darted to SS3, hed flip them over, punching the incoming ones. One came up to the side and slashed his left arm, he held it, grunting but continued to fight. Dante took back his left hand and shot out waves like Kuri had done before. This only seemed to tickle and hardly effect the minions, but Faith and Dante kept attacking and SS3 kept fist-fighting anyway. Zach kept running, a stitch stung in his side. He had been running from the fight for nearly eight minutes, not out of cowardly hope to survive--but to distract one of the minions. He realized there was no sound behind him except screams and blasts. Zach stopped and looked back. He felt a blow to the back of his head and fell to his hands. Give me the girl! the minion above demanded. Zach looked up angrily and blocked a punch to his face. The two muscled each other, when the minion tried to strike with his other fist, Zach spread the minions legs with his ankles and kneed him in the groin. The minion smirked tiredly. Zachs eyes widened when he remembered what SS3 had told them during training: Keep in mind-theyll be basically built like me-they are just egos after all. Egos were just the basic human physique--they had no internal organs--and no reproductive ones either. Damn! Zach kicked him in the abdomen to shoot him upward. He rolled to one knee and waited for another attack. Zach got up, and paced toward him. He had landed on his head, spirals of smoke shot through his body. He shouted dramatically, as he shattered, like nothing Zach has ever heard before. Zach shook his head in trying to be rid of the nasty shriek and ran back toward the others. Not bad, Evailia said out loud. Perhaps training was not such a waste afterall, your highness, SEMI replied. Apparently not, Evailia leveled her head a bit still watching ahead of SEMIs screen, but theyll need a lot more if they want to win against Evince. Royailia listened from behind, and stuttered, but kept her peace. Come and get me, SS3, but I warn you now--well have fun, Evince grinned. Zach saw Kuri, or, SS3. He stopped running, trying to allow everything to sink in. Kuri turned to face him, Zach didnt realize she had noticed him. She didnt. Only SS3 could do that. The place was practically destroyed: ground broken, water and dust...blood, everywhere. Blood? Egos can at least bleed? Then, Zach looked to his friends. SS3s face and arm had faint blood, but such small wounds couldnt have drenched the ground as it had been. Dante walked to Zach, looking extremely worn. He managed an encouraging grin, then sighed at an ache. Faith was sitting upright upon her knees, leaning forward on her palms getting air. SS3 walked over to her and held out an open hand. She smiled, then turned to the sound of a familiar engine. A feminine voice came from the parked vehicle, is everything all right? SS3 wiped his hands, fine, SEMI; everyone in. I dont like his bossy attitude, Zach mumbled to Dante as they walked to the Firewall. Yeah, well, best to listen to someone who knows what theyre doing for now, Dante replied watching Faith and Kuris body get into the car. They continued the straight path, going about eighty. Voices were all around them. Minions were following them about thirty feet to their sides, never interfering, just hovering at the speed of the car. It was almost a street race to see who got to the bad boy first. The car continued forward, but the minions stopped and watched them. Then the four realized they had entered a large corridor shortly before they entered a tremendous room with pillars, orbs, and lights. Lights! Finally, they could sense without sound for a while. The room was vast, and almost beautiful. Faith was amazed. The boys were astounded. Kuri was curious. The car stopped. Eerily lovely, isnt it? SS3 asked leaning against the outside of that car with his arms crossed. He opened Kuris door and let her out, then everyone got out. Is this where we find Evince? Why didnt the minions just follow us in? Dante adjusted his sunglasses. Lights focuses far ahead and above them, they turned to see it clearly in wonder. A dark silhouette stood among the light. Welcome, Perfect One, enjoy your ride here? the being looked to Kuri after he said this. END TO FIRST PART |
