Information for Players and Parents

Evaluations

In the beginning of the basketball season, evaluations are done for each age group.  The number of evaluations are determined by the number of kids and which age group they belong to.  The kids skills are tested through drills and scrimmages.  And then the evaluators make decisions as to how to split them into teams. 

Coaches are sent their team list and information and they therefore contact their players and are set up with practice times. __________________________________________________________________

Southfour has a very limited amount of gym space for rent in our area of the city.  Abuse or misuse of gym equipment can lead to Southfour Basketball losing the use gym in the future.  This could lead to fewer teams for our Community.

1.  Water is the only drink allowed in the gyms.

2.  Wear clean, appropriate footwear.  Indoor, non-marking runners, basketball shoes, court shoes only.  Shoes worn outside should not be used inside.  Dirty shoes bring dirt in and make the floor slippery and could also damage the floor.  Outdoor footwear should be taken off near the front door.

3.  Treat the custodians and the schools with respect.  Custodians can directly contact the gym rental office and issue a complaint.  We're only allowed a very small number of complaint in which we could lose the gym the rest of the season or for future use.  We only rent the gyms, not the hallways, or any other equipment.  No playing in the hallway or wandering around the schools.  Please attend to your children, especially going to the washroom.  Keep doors of the schools closed, not propped open for security reasons (vandalism and theft), 
 

Parents

Please be timely when dropping off and picking up your children for games and practices.  If you know you are going to be late please let your coaches know in advance or make arrangements with another parent. Coaches are often held up waiting for parents after games and practices. 

Please help the team however you can.  Carpooling, help supervise the practices (2 adults should be present).  Learn to keep score or be a timekeeper for games.  There are instructions in the coaches CMBA handbook or on the CMBA website.

Uniforms

Your child will be provided with a Southfour uniform.  Do not put the uniform in the dryer.  Uniforms must only be worn for games, not for practices or for other recreation.  Your uniform deposit ($50) will be refunded when your child's uniform is returned in good condition.
 

 Players Dress regulations

No Jewelry (no taping of jewelry to hide it), no wristband, no hard hair accessories, shirts tucked in, no short string loops hanging out, no pocket in shorts (if not wearing shorts given by Southfour), shirts under uniforms must be of the same colour as our uniforms (red) or white, but the whole team must all be wearing the same colour undershirt.

Team Photos will be set up during the season. 
 

Southfour Basketball reserves the right to refuse registration to any player or family that does not abide by the rules of the Calgary Minor Basketball Association or has not respected the rights of other players, coaches, or other volunteers of Southfour Basketball, or has in any way abused equipment and facilities.  Southfour Basketball also reserves the right to ask a player or family to withdraw from the program, without refund, for serious or continuous abuse of rules by either players or family members.
