Ramika Nannie Cleopatra Uromastyx
My mom always says that uromastyxs were the last animal God created, and he had to take all the left over parts to create them. He took
Okay, sure, this thing might sound a little weird (freaky, scary, strange, etc...) but I swear to you, it is the most wonderful thing that ever happened to me. These lizards are the sweetest, most lovable little babies you'll ever come across. No, I'm not crazy. I would never give up my Mika.
Mika is about five years old and has been beaten and strangled and cut up and every possible thing that could ever possibly happen, happen to her. She is a hardy little thing. The worst she ever got was during a period of time when she got bloody lesions all over her. We took her to the vet, and he had never seen one of these before! So he goes and pulls out the book on uromastyxs you can buy in any pet shop! My mom and I were like, we're paying you for this? He didn't find the cause of it but he prescribed her some medicine that really helped her recover.
I received Ramika as a Christmas present many years ago. I saw her in my local reptile store, and I fell in love with her right then and there. She climbed all over the glass and looked at me. I knew I had to have her. I begged and begged my parents, and at first they did not give in. BUT, on Christmas there she was waiting for me. Its a very long story about how she got to that point, which I do not wish to get into right now but lets just say it was a miracle to me that I got her.
All good things must come to an end. Sadly, I must say that Mika died on October 21, 1998 from old age. I can't say much right now about it because I am still in complete remorse, but I do not think that any other pet will ever fill that place that she had in my life. I miss her incredibly and I wish she were still with me today. I loved her so much and it's so hard for me right now.
You can read a uromastyx care sheet (with lots of pics on it too) I put together some time ago to help people getting into uromastyxs. To read that care sheet:
