MY LIFE - FEBRUARY

Dave and Anubis

Sunday, February 27, 2000

Today was a bust. I had a migraine all day and could not get up at all. It wasn't until around 7pm that I managed to get up only because I could hear my pager vibrating every couple minutes. The page, which was a voicemail because it had my pager number in the window, was from 5pm. I picked up the phone and found it was from Mike at work wanting to know how yesterday went. I called him at home and talked to him for a short while.

I figured it was time to get up anyway, so I got dressed and started to go downstairs. Our dog Anubis suddenly looked upstairs, jumped off the couch, went to the bottom of the stairs, and as soon as I went over the gate, was trying to play. He stood up on his back paws, then came down with his front paws and attacked my arm. Then he ran, grabbed one of his billion toys, and brought it to me. After playing for a while, I sat down. I was surprised to find I was winded a little bit.

I immediately began to wonder if I was getting sick. The fact that my nose was a little runny contributed to this worry. I'm not exactly what you'd call strong (calling me weak is probably being generous), but I felt weaker than normal. The energy I had last night was gone, replaced with, well, nothing.

I did the grocery shopping again, and again noticed that I felt weak after unloading the groceries into my car and into the house. This was not something that normally happened. I'm probably getting sick, but with what I don't know. It just better not be too bad because this is the last thing we'll need when we begin moving.

I hate grocery shopping on Sunday. One of two problems is always present. The first potential problem is that the store will be busy. If it's busy, problem two is not far behind. Problem two is everything being out of stock. If you're lucky, you can avoid both of them. I, however, am not lucky. I can usually avoid one, but not both.

Tonight wasn't busy. Judging from the fact that just about everything was low on stock or out though told me that it was busy during the day. Lunch meat wasn't exactly in abundance and as usual, all the bagels were gone. I managed to get most of the items on the list handed to me by my mom, but forget the lettuce. What was left looked like it had been sitting there for quite some time.

The total was under $50 though. I only bought a few things though, so that was probably the reason why. Hell, even the checkout line was short and I was out of there fairly quickly. I got lucky too. The cashier was going on break, but not until she finished with me.

I've begun to go back through the old entries of My Life and reformat them so that I can put them back up on my web site. Their still sitting in my directory, but I don't have any links to them. It's a good thing too. Most of them have the old format that I used much of last year where I had the big list of pages at the bottom. They also had the old graphic title that I used as well. So I went through and began reformatting them to the current format.

As I did so, I read the old entries too (these going back to last February). I was a little intrigued by the way I looked at things. I could also see why some might perceive that I think highly of myself. Why I wrote some of things, well, I don't really know. I don't know why I write half the stuff I write now. With some of the entries though, I could see that I had days where I probably shouldn't have written anything at all. I also jumped subject a lot easier and didn't take a whole lot of space to explain why I felt the way I did.

It's also a bit interesting that I'm bringing these back up. I should probably delete them, but I also find it fun to look back at what other people wrote in their sites in the past and I remembered how I didn't like the way some sites wrote a month's worth of entries, then deleted them when they started the next month.

The fact that I read old entries on other sites is probably why I'm doing this. I doubt that of the few visitors that I get many want to read the old entries. Then again, I've been surprised in the past. So I'll bring them back up as soon as I finish the format job.

Tomorrow's going to be fun. No Dominique (she was fired Saturday for not showing up and/or not letting us know in ample time if she was coming in again) which means I'll probably be running register until 4:30 or 5pm. Plus we have a fill-in pharmacist, which means the day could either be really smooth or a real mess. I'm not really sure yet though. It depends on who's filling in, if anybody. As of Saturday, Monday's date in the pharmacy schedule was still blank.

You can be sure that Mike will be pretty testy though. He hates ringing for half an hour. Ringing for more than that might prove to be fatal, but he has to deal with it. Until we get another person for the morning (what is it with the morning shift anyway?), it will be a headache. I won't mind it for a while, but it's not something that can last.

We have enough trouble getting things done when we have help, much less when we don't have any.
