MY LIFE - MAY

It has been quite a while since I've written an entry, so before I go on with the occurrences of today, let me try to catch all of you up to speed on the current events.

First off, as I've made known in other areas of this site, we moved from Brunswick up to Cleveland. I moved into the house in early March and the rest of my family followed about five days later. It took a couple weeks to move all of the furniture and the boxes that we had at the old house, but it eventually got done (all though to this day there is still stuff there). We began to settle in almost immediately.

The house is in pretty good shape (I'll have pictures up shortly as I still haven't gotten around to uploading them from the picture disk) and I was placed in the third floor, which is a good fit for me because it has its own bathroom, stove, sink, and a few other bonuses. My new computer went upstairs and was set up almost immediately, but unfortunately one glaring problem reared its ugly head. We didn't have any phones.

Ameritech was originally supposed to come out and turn the phones on, but that never happened on the appointed day of March 12. Subsequent calls only proved to us that the idiots there were incompetent and unable to do their job well at all. We had at least two no shows and one surprise appearance. That one appearance was short-lived as the technician left before I could get downstairs to let him in. When we called about these incidents, we were told there were two times that the tech couldn't get inside access (which was shit by the way) and the third time we were told nothing had been scheduled.

We got fed up and decided to go with CoreComm, who took a little time, but did get in to set up our phones. Okay, two lines were supposedly set up. Upon further review, we found that there was no line going to the upstairs at all. One phone call later, a tech was out and finished up the work. This was just last week so I just recently got a phone line to go up here and get things rolling.

There are still issues to resolve (like my supposed free internet that isn't working yet), but all in all this house is working out for us. I have caller id upstairs, a microwave upstairs, a tv and vcr setup upstairs, and all my game systems up here as well. It's a pretty good setup for me as it allows me to be alone, but not incompacitated like I was before. The room is kind of small, but I don't have a lot of stuff taking up the room so it's not as bad as one might think.

Like I said, I'll have pictures up soon plus more info on the house when I get to updating Me, Myself, and I. Actually, this whole damn site needs to be updated. One of the things that I want to do is add some pages in. One kind of page will be a music type page where I place my top songs and albums along with a review of an album that I've recently bought. If I haven't bought an album in a while, I just go back and review an older one.

It's just an idea, but it's something that I liked in the old pop culture site that lived a very short life. Another idea is my return towards writing more Mystery Science Theater 3000 related material. This stuff was the lifeblood for so long, so it doesn't seem fair to me to bash it out of existence. The show may have finally been canceled, but that doesn't mean that it's gone. No, far from it. I'll have to think about it for a while, but I'll be working on a couple of ideas.

Today was Monday and it was kind of dead. We got over 200 prescriptions, but it was nothing major at all. This kind of decline has led me to seriously think of transferring to Berea. I was offered the opportunity by Steve, but I haven't really come to a decision. However, in lieu of certain events at work, I'm leaning more and more towards accepting a transfer.

One, I'm tired of listening to Mike complain about Lenny, the store, and everything else about it. He continually blasts everyone for not doing anything of significance, yet he goofs off more than anyone else. He can't seem to decide on whether he wants to be serious or be goofy. I keep telling him he's going to have to change his act if he wants to be a manager, but he just doesn't get it.

On the flipside, I'm sick of hearing Lenny complain about Mike. If these two would just get together in the breakroom for just half an hour and hammer out their problems with each other, things would go smoother. Lenny needs to understand that he's not getting the program right at this point. Each time he gets a review, the district manager says the store still looks like a Revco store (evidently an insult despite the fact that it is an old Revco store), yet Lenny doesn't do anything about that.

Mike on the other hand refuses to accept that Lenny is the manager. I don't think Mike comprehends how much more Lenny has to do. Anything and everything in that store outside of the pharmacy is on his shoulders. Mike doesn't do all of the shit that Lenny does, yet Mike thinks that Lenny doesn't do enough. I think that neither of them has a complete understanding of each other and frankly, that's killing the store. They do things differently, and that has an adverse affect on the entire store. Nobody working there has any idea of what's going on from day to day anymore.

That all aside, my biggest consideration for transferring lies in the change of pace. I don't like it when it's slow. I need to be occupied at all times. I don't like standing around with nothing to do, nor do I like doing front store duties along with pharmacy duties. Transferring would place me soley in the pharmacy. I would not be doing anything involving the front store at all. I would not have to close the store down on a regular basis like I do here. I wouldn't have to do any of the shit I do out front either (which is wearing on me in a major way). I also like the possible change of hours as well. I would probably work 10-6:30, which would give me the night to rest a little bit.

Everyone's told me to weigh the pros and cons. Right now the arrow's definitely pointing towards Berea. I'd miss the people I work with, especially Jacqui, but that's the way things go. At least with her I can talk with her outside of work.

Dammit. Nothing can ever come easy for me.
