There is a new picture of me up. I know, I know. I've been trying and trying to find a newer pic of me than what I currently had up, but I finally found one. In my wallet. The very pic you see up on the top of this page. Well, half the pic anyway. My ex is in the other half and I had to shrink it in size anyway, so I cut her out.
I also know it's been a while since I've written an entry in here. Let's just say that I've been busy with a whole lot of things, ranging from trying to work out a mess at work, playing basketball, playing my season of video game baseball (only at night), working during the day (yeah, it finally happened), and listening to someone talk about their problems on the phone **breath**.
The first reason revolves around my former coworker Shelby and her situation at work. The basic breakdown is that she did have a lot of call-offs, but they were legitimate call-offs, no matter what anyone else may have though. Twice she had to call off or leave because of her grandfather being in the hospital, twice she was throwing up all over the place, and twice because her grandmother was in the hospital.
The last reason is the one that got everyone fired up. No one believed that Shelby's grandmother was in the hospital because of a heart attack and that she was going to have surgery. Someone decided that she was lying and most everyone else jumped on ship. This was partly because a lot of people didn't like Shelby. Now, I don't know about you, but not liking someone isn't exactly an excuse to treat them like shit, and it's no excuse to accuse them of lying. That's what happened though.
She pretty vented everything to me and has kept me continuously updated on the situation since the whole thing started. I wasn't too happy with how it all ended, but there wasn't anything that I could do that was going to change how a bunch of people looked at her. I didn't feel the same about her as everyone else. I liked working with her, no matter what anyone else though.
Naturally, rumors start to fly that she was the reason I broke things off with Tab, that she and I were more than just friends, and a whole lot of other bullshit that just wasn't true. What made me mad is this was happening despite the fact that I had told everyone the situation with Tab and me and that Shelby and I were just friends.
Shelby did quit last Thursday and made it clear that she didn't appreciate the way people treated her. I can't really blame her either. I saw first hand what was going on and I knew the situation with her personal life. I don't really know why things happened the way they did, but I guess it's better this way.
The next reason I have is I've been playing a lot more basketball lately than I had been playing previously. I've also found that my shot is getting better and better and ballhandling has improved. I played in some pick up games and played pretty well.
I've also been playing High Heat Baseball 2003, a game that I like much better than All-Star Baseball 2003. ASB may be the better looking game with all the glitz and glamour, but HHB plays a lot better and is more realistic. You can actually make good contact on the ball in HHB and all the controls are very tight and responsive.
Working during the day has been the biggest reason that I haven't written. It's opened things up for me to get out at night and enjoy myself rather than working until late hours, then having some time to write. I'm going to be on the day shift for a while too.
If I am home at night, it's because I'm so tired and wiped out that I can't do anything else but just lie down and try to recover some energy. I've only had a couple days like that, but I'm sure there will be more, especially next week when I only get one day off.
I'm still kind of curious about the customer I had on Thursday. This guy came by the window with a script for his son. He told me his son never had a script at our store before, so I got all the information and then asked for his insurance card. Well, he hands me a card that's from a company where each individual member gets their own card because they have different ID numbers. He didn't hand me his son's card though, he handed me his card. I then explained to him that we needed the card with his son's name on it. He asked why I couldn't just use the one he had and I told him why. He got all pissed off about it and acted like it was my fault that he didn't bring his son's card in. His next line has become infamous in the store.
"You can go fuck yourself. Give me back the damn prescription you fucking asshole."
I gave it back to him and smiled at him, prompting a couple more swear words and him to peel out of the drive-thru.
Now, normally I wouldn't think twice about looking up insurance information or making a guess on the card, but the card he gave me, you can't do that. There's no real rhyme or reason behind the way the IDs are set up. He didn't understand that.
I guess I can't say I'm too disapointed that he left. That is the first time I've had a customer tell me to go fuck myself though. It really didn't make me mad, but I could care less for this guy if that's how he reacts. I think it even says in the letter that these people get to keep all the cards on you at all times because the numbers are different.
I guess that would've been too much for him to handle though.
