MY LIFE - APRIL

Why do I keep reading the columns by Dick Feagler of The Plain Dealer? Have I not learned that this man will never write an article praising my generation for anything? I mean, every article he writes is either about how entertainment is terrible or how bad kids are these days. He has never once written about something good that a kid my age has done.

I don't think he can do it.

Today he wrote about how no one sits at home and just talks to each other and how kids don't listen to the stories of their parents or grandparents. He then went on to demonstrate his point by talking about how his parents talked about the war or how they met their spouses. It was a great thing and all, but again, Feagler is living in the past.

He just cannot accept that things have changed. He can't accept that it's not really this generation's fault either. He fails to look at how parents aren't home, grandparents live far away because either they or their children moved away, and that society in itself has changed a lot since he was growing up.

He has constantly blamed everything but parents on the problems that he sees. A kid playing a violent game? Not the parent's fault, but the people who made the game. He just cannot accept that a lot of parents just aren't really acting like parents. Both usually work and they usually don't get home until late in the evening now. It's not the mom staying home while dad works his 9-5.

Yeah, television, games, and movies are violent, but they've always been violent. The only difference is it's now more realistic than it used to be. Nothing on tv is much worse than what was on tv 40 years ago. Nothing. If anything, tv back then was worse because a lot of shows were very racist in their depictions of minorities.

For once, I would like Feagler to write an article where he talks about something positive my generation is doing. I don't think he can do it though because he's developed such a bad attitude towards my generation.

The bastard also doesn't reply to e-mails. I know because I sent him one two years ago after I wrote about something he said. Never heard back from him. He's simply biased. He thinks the way things were are the way things always should be and it doesn't work that way. Times change. People change. Habbits change. They always have and they always will.

In fifty years, I'm going to be doing the same thing. I'll be talking about how things were when I grew up and my grandchildren are going to look at me like I'm smoking crack.

Just don't blame it all on my generation. Show me that you're actually willing to look at us from another angle instead of your warped point of view. It might do you some good.

I'm exhausted right now. I really don't know what I'm still up for. I have to get up for work in about 6 hours, yet I'm still online, still trying to take care of some things before I go to bed.

It's not like it was busy at work tonight. It was actually pretty quiet most of the night with the only exception coming at 9:15 when everyone showed up all of a sudden to get their prescriptions filled. After about 10:30, we had absolutely nothing going on. I think I saw five people come into the store in the last hour and a half, none of them pharmacy customers.
