MY LIFE - MAY

I bought a web cam, but so far getting it to work right has been a real chore. Every time I open up the software to use it, the program freezes and locks me out of everything else I try to do. Right now it's a minor nuisance, but I hope it's resolved soon. I would like to be able to post a unique picture with each new entry that I put up.

I can't do that if this thing doesn't want to work right. So hopefully that's resolved shortly.

I've always wanted a web cam though so I'm hoping that this works out for me. People are always asking me for new pics and I hate telling them I don't have any at the moment. I did it also so that I could try and do new things for my site, like making some sort of mini movie or something.

In the meantime, I have to wait and see what tech support has to say on the matter. I think it's Windows XP being a pain in the ass again, but you can never tell anymore. Everything's constantly getting upgraded so there's no support for what you might have if it's more than a couple years old. That's how Microsoft gets you though. They upgrade to a new system, then stop supporting the old one. Of course, by the time they work out the bugs, it's on to the next big thing.

I also bought Gran Turismo 3 for PS2. Jim from work had been telling me how good a game it was and I finally got around to buying it, increasing my collection of games that I own. I also would like to get the MTV Music Generator game since I think it would be pretty neat to make my own music and see what I can come up with.

That was my day in a nutshell though. I didn't really have a whole lot to do to begin with. Tomorrow I'm supposed to hang out with a friend though, so tomorrow should be a different story.

I did get to talk to a few people tonight. I had some good conversations and I'm starting to get better with this meeting people thing that had been giving me so much trouble. It's just been a matter of coming across the right people of late. I also think that one of these days, I'll be back in a relationship again. For now though, meeting people and going on the occasional date will do for me.

It's just nice to see things finally clicking for me with meeting people.

I'll admit it. I'm fascinated by black music and movies. I remember going over my friend's house to watch movies. The movie list was predominantly black back then, movies like "Friday," "Menace II Society," "Boyz in tha Hood," and other movies about life in the ghetto. I remember watching them with fascination because of how they portrayed young blacks growing up.

Of these, "Menace II Society" sticks in my mind the most because of just how raw it was. The movie had very violent scenes with people getting shot multiple times. It showed how far down black youths had fallen to where they would kill over anything. Revenge was a huge them in the movie. Revenge for your friend being shot, revenge for revenge.

I watched it the other night and was again overcome with how powerful the movie remains to me. I watched the movie and could remember sitting in my friend's basement remarking how cool each scene played out. The story itself is just raw in how people are portrayed. People sitting out, drinking and doing drugs, then running from the cops who suddenly showed up...The movie goes from one subject to another and shows just how rough the streets can be.

This movie was powerful then and remains powerful to this day. It probably ranks as one of the best movies I've ever seen, violence and all.
