Although Beyond Cayuga's Water is not a crew-related site, many of the people who may be checking in have gone through the Cornell Rowing program , and may now be part of the Cornell Rowing Association. So while this site is not dedicated to crew, we have put up some useful information and some other links you may be interested in. For more information on the CRA, please contact Head Coach Dan Roock. To post information on the Beyond Cayuga's Waters website, please contact Dave Grannis.
The Cornell rowing program is beginning numerous changes, each designed to improve the life and the success of Cornell oarsmen (and oarswomen). On the waterfront, plans for a new, renovated boathouse are calling for a joining of the Collier and Robison boathouses, with improved facilities included. Up the hill, the Crew Room in Teagle Hall is ready to be overhauled. The new Friedman Strength & Conditioning Center has been completed for the weight training needs of our rowers. Lastly, Heavyweight Head Coach Dan Roock has completed his first two years at Cornell's helm, and is looking to bring the program back to prominance.
September 24 Update: (Slightly delayed) Wendy Levash, former Princeton rower and 1997 women's team captain, has been named novice women's coach
Linda Muri, National Team rower and coach in Boston, has been named men's frosh LW coach.
September 15 Update: Todd Kennett (Erg) has been named as the new Cornell Lightweight Varsity Coach. Kennett had coached the freshmen lightweight team for the past four seasons, with good success in fall, spring, and championship racing. Kennett also rowed for Cornell as an undergrad as a heavyweight.
August 14 Update: Long-time lightweight coach John Ferriss has announced his retirement from the Cornell Rowing Program. Ferriss is among the most knowledgable rowers ever, and will be sorely missed by his oarsmen. The next lightweight coach has not been named.
July 31 Update: Former Princeton novice coach Melanie Onufrieff has been named the New Cornell head women's coach. Melanie spent two years at Princeton, winning silver and bronze at Sprints, and one year at Rutgers, where she won silver. Onufrieff replaces former Cornell Coach of the Year award winner John Dunn.
For Cornell rowers who are looking to continue after graduation, the Big Red Boatclub has been set up for gaining entries to various races. Please contact Geoff Hoffman for more information.
