Whadda ya know? ANOTHER web page...

This is everything you wanted to know about me
and more.

Last update: May 12, 2001

First off, I am a junior at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Where's that - in Indiana - duh. Actually, it's in "East Central Indiana" or so they say. I graduated in the Spring from BSU and currently I am doing a year of interim gradwork here in Flute Performance before I move on to something and/or somewhere else. This page is mostly a blast from the past, I am just too sentimental, I suppose, to delete it.

I graduated from Concord High School, which is in Elkhart, Indiana - imagine that. In case you don't know where that is, they call it "Michiana." I didn't come up with that, mind you, but I do live close to Michigan. I played tenor saxophone for my fourth and final year with the Concord Marching Band. My freshman year we placed second, by a mere 0.35, with "Africa: Ceremony, Song and Ritual" by Robert W. Smith.

The following year we were third, but 0.9 away from first, with Shakespeare's "Henry V" with music by Patrick Doyle.

The past year we ended up fourth with more Shakespeare, this time "Romeo and Juliet" with music by Prokofiev. {I'm sure I spelled something wrong in there, but I'm too lazy look it up :-) }

This last year we were third again, we deserved second, but hey it's over. We did "Rituale" by Elliot DelBorgo. {The Rituale Patch will go here...}

This is our Macy*s patch from the 1997 parade.

I also completed my fourth year in the Elkhart Youth Honors Orchestra, in which, I played flute. (My previous years were all on oboe.)

I did get to play both the oboe and English Horn solos in Borodin's "Polovetzian Dances." Other highlights include: Shostakovich's "Six Pieces from First Ballet Suite," Beethoven's "Egmont Overture," and Shubert's "Unfinished Symphony." I've also had a few minor piano solos including the one in "Hoe-Down" from Rodeo - the "beef it's what's {not} for dinner" commercials.

Speaking of piano solos, I've taken lessons for ten years and am minoring in piano. Some of my favorite works are Chopin's etudes and preludes and almost anything by Rachmaninov, Gershwin's Preludes and a lot of Mendelssohn..

~This patch actually looks just like the marhcing one, but this graphic rendition looked neater.~ Before I get to far off the subject (too late) I was also in Concord's Symphonic and Jazz 1 bands as well as the Symphony Orchestra. One last thing, I was also in Concord Singers - the show choir - in which I played piano and sung bass, not baritone (in case you didn't know the difference).

Musical Highlights of 1998-1999:
Back in January I was selected to be in the Indiana Music Educators Association Honor Band in which I was principle oboe.
I did take the Fauré Fantasie to solo and ensemble (district and state) and got an 8 both times (highest 7/lowest 35).

I also took Fantasie Impromptu by Chopin to contest, I got a 10 at district and a 9 at state.
I was in the Indiana All-State Band (the 2nd one by audition, the first being the honor band). Oddly enough, I was supposed to be on 2nd part in the 2nd band, so I wasn't too pleased, however one person dropped out of the top band so everyone got shifted. In every case the person who was on the lower part beat the person who had the higher part by the taped audition. So, I was first oboe in the 2nd band.
Our Jazz Band was an honor band at the Purdue Jazz Fest - placing third overall, with an avgerage of 96 (I think, maybe 95).
The Jazz I and II bands were both honor bands in their rooms at the Northrop Jazz Fest.
The music should be hearing is a medley of songs including "Carnivale," "Java Jive," "Tico,Tico" and "When I Fall in Love." These are all songs I did in Concord Singers. - enjoy. I must say that this will either sound pretty good - or really bad depending on your sound card so beware.

Musical Updates - Spring 2004:
My current ensemble memberships include the BSSO and a flute, cello, piano trio. Unfortunately, the chemistry with our pianist wasn't there. The cellist and friend, Susan Robison and I had hoped to go to Fischoff, but that isn't going to happen.
I no longer study the oboe because I'm trying to focus in on flute playing, but it is an option for pit doubling.

Here is an up and improving Poem Page. If you have a favorite poem and e-mail it to me, you could see it on here :-) I have not seen many replies, you could be a winner!

Well I'm trying to catch up on my HTML skills, but I don't have tons of time so this is what you get for now...and I'm sure there will be a lot of references to Monica- the singer gotta luv'er.
