Highlights of Vice President of Membership Duties

Vice President Membership:  Prepared by Linda Love 

1. Is responsible for keeping a healthy Club membership of at least 20 active members by adding at least one new member a month. This is done by:

• Encouraging all Club members to bring guests frequently and occasionally holding membership building contests.

• Greeting all guests and making them feel comfortable. Sitting with guests to explain the meeting to them. Giving guests literature about the Club and Toastmasters International.

• Getting guests to sign a Guest Book or Guest Information Sheet so that the Club can reach them.

• Calling guests a couple of days after the meeting to thank them for attending and answer any questions they may have as well as encouraging them to return and become a member.

• Sending all guests a follow-up thank you letter or thank you card for their attendance.

• Sending new members a letter welcoming them to the Club.

2. Assists new members in filling out New Member Application forms and determining the dues owed (with the help of the Treasurer).

3. Works to encourage membership satisfaction.

4. Helps prepare the Semiannual Membership Report.

5. Chairs the Membership Committee.

6. Formally invites prospective new members to join (after approval by the Membership committee) subject to majority approval by a vote of club members during a meeting.

7. Introduces prospective new members to the club for a vote on their membership. Conducts formal induction when Club approves membership.

8. Participates in Executive Committee meetings.

9. Attends District-sponsored Club officer training.
