If ever there was a year that brought about the greatest changes in fashion yet, it would have to be this millenial era. Never has there been a time when designers cut and cropped at odd lengths and shaped like never before as much as there is now. Last year we saw the capri pant, back from the sixties, but with a new twist. The slits on the side could be tied. Animal prints and beaded fringes were added on the bottoms. Colors and designs like never before. All this is reflected in this year's cropped pant as well. The short skirt was lengthened down to the knee and mid-calf. Why wear something so short anyway? Slits were added and new fabrics introduced. The long-sleeved shirt was cut as well, to the much more comftorable, 3/4 length. All of the sudden, the low heeled shoe became sexy. We no longer need a high heeled pump to look good. And mules and slides took on a whole new look, being made from ponyskin or calfskin, replacing harsh patent leather.

Fashion has calmed down, but at the same time, it has spiced up greatly. Animal prints have hit our streets hard. Leopard has been deemed the sexiest, with snakeskin at its heels. These prints can be seen everywhere, from shoes to bras, be they real or faux. Some may consider this cruel to animals, but I consider it high fashion. Also now popular are leather pants, no biker knock-offs. Black may be one common side, but tan soft leather pants have found their way into even more fashionistas' hearts. The platform has been raised, I'd have to say, at least and inch a year. And tube tops can now be worn safely to the office, no raised eyebrows attached. And so we are left hanging between the two-faced fashion that has emerged from our society.

What would grandma say?
