Margaret Pavey-Velten. She and I used to pass notes to
each other in Bahasa if we were bored. I once asked her if I could
switch my mind off, and she told me "No way! I have to sit
through the valuation, so you'll have to sit through my section. In
any case, I need another lawyer to help me deal with you know
who..." And so the late nights as both of us reviewed our
report, and wondered why we were doing it: no partnership prospects,
no bonuses. But did we enjoy it? I think we did.

Carmel Whelton. Ex-Canadian diplomat. Told me that Malaysia diplomats "kick-ass!" She went from not knowing Commercial Law to being proficient in it in the course of on holiday. I mean, who brings along Roy Goode's Commercial Law as holiday reading? |

And of course, apart from all these people pictured here, there are those who helped make it a fun place to work. There were so many, like Mercy, George, like Adam and Ali and Molly (who has the ability to make most men stop mid-sentence... she's on the first picture of this series...)
