Magnificent Woman
|
On my way to my Assembly programming class one day, I looked up to the hills above
Papine and Kintyre - above the Hope river bed. They were so green and clean and fresh
looking. The setting sun cast an airy-like, fresh, excited light on them with a
creeping shadow; a wondrous warning of approaching dusk. Sitting in my car, at a
standstill in traffic, I suddenly saw a magnificently confident and self-assured
woman who is accomplished, beautiful and successful; with an air of spiritual
calm... poignant over the bustle and haste of the evening traffic. This is an ode
to that beautiful woman glimpsed fleetingly in hills over one of the most northern
communities of Kingston, Jamaica.

Dark and mysterious
Fresh and young
She waltzes past me
And I look at her
With magnimonious envy
Tall and elegant
That she towers
Above me
In her quiet confidence
She inspires me
As does freshly
Washed hillsides in rain
With sunlight
Doth illuminate
I must strive
To become
As tall and as elegant
As confident
If not as important
As this woman
Of obvious mental wealth
And calmness of spirit
She moves me
To tears
Of awe.
