What is the World Jungle Underground? you ask. Well, first off, let's say what jungle is. Jungle is a fast paced techno music mixed by a DJ on mixing tables. The DJ will usually sample a beat from one of the records he/she is playing with his mixer, and loop it. The DJ then proceeds to "mix" other music into the beat he has going ( a lot harder than it sounds ). The main characteristic of Jungle is the fast snare drums and the low melodious bass rolling in the background. Ok, so what is the World Jungle Underground? All right, calm down... Give me a chance to finish. I,  ,
am the creator of the World Jungle Underground. Hopefully, in
the future it will be a loose organization of jungle fans, who
share stories of favorite DJ's and/or good raves they have gone
to.
Ok, so who belongs in the World Jungle Underground? Well, i don't want to exclude anyone from being a member of the World Jungle Underground. Anyone who wishes to tell stories of favorite DJ's and/or raves are welcome. Also anyone who is just appreciative of Jungle, or even just techno music in general is welcome to post stories and comments. All right, so what is the World Jungle Underground here to do? Well, it can be used for just about anything. You can look at my rave flyer wall and submit any flyers you have scanned. You can also visit my story table and listen to some stories people have to tell. But mainly, it's to unite all the Jungle fans who have access to the internet. Ok, so what's a rave? Oh look, if you don't know what a rave is, i'm very curious how you got here...so please email me and tell me! But you are welcome to stay and check this site out! A rave ("party") is an underground party usually held at clubs or if one can be accessed, an abandoned warehouse. Raves usually last all night, probably starting around 10pm and ending around the time working people get up in the morning. At a rave, a wide variety of techno music is played...jungle, ambient, trip hop, breakbeat,house...and even more (i don't want to list any more). One hour of driving, and finally you reach your destination. You and your three friends file out of the car and look at the club. You can see the lights flashing through the windows; you can feel the bass pounding through the walls. You've finally made it! You get to the door and knock, and someone opens it. You see a line of about 10 people waiting for their turn to give the bouncer their money so they can get in. You stand in line for a minute, and stop talking to your friends. You watch someone talk to the bouncer, "You haven't been drinking tonight have you?" and the person answers "Nope." The bouncer takes his money and motions him towards the graffiti covered door. The person opens it and all of a sudden a wave of bass comes through the now open door, and your excitement increases tenfold. The door closes and the bass is nearly completely muted by the door. Finally it's your turn, you say no, then give the bouncer your money. You walk to the door hesitantly, eager for the rush of bass to hit you. You reach for the door. You grab the handle. You open the door. And all of a sudden you're in a completely different world, where bass rules supreme, and the conscious mind is forgotten in a trance-like state of dancing. You made it to the rave. |
