The round rock, which gave the town its name, was used as a landmark for the low water crossing of Brushy Creek. Many local residents had their picture taken while sitting on the rock and it was a popular place to watch the Georgetown train return home in reverse, since there was nowhere for it to turn around. Two plaques, one located on the stone wall near Chisholm Trail on the north bank of Brushy Creek, and one on the bridge, commemorate the history of this site.
