CALIFORNIA LOVE

I was born in Lompoc, California. It's about an hour and forty-five minutes north of Santa Barbara. Lompoc is a small town, with not a whole lot to do. I lived there for 9 wonderful years. My dad's side of the family, all lived out there and visited often. Also, my mom's parents live out there now. My step-dad was in the military on Vandenberg Air Force Base. So when my mom and step-dad got married, we moved on the base.

I know, i know, you want to hear about the beaches and weather and stuff like that, huh? Well... you could go to 5 different beaches within a 20 mile range. Yes, of course same water, but totally different waves and sand. Some would have a little bit of tar on the beach, another would have a fishing pier and dock, another would have really great waves to surf and boogey board on. The water was hardly ever really cold, unless you went on a cold day, duh?!

In Lompoc, it's very windy. It's the windiest city i have ever been to. And we're not talking occasionally, either. This is like an every day thing. Don't even think about doing something fancy with your hair, because it won't last 10 minutes. In the winter time, it rains, and in the summer, it can get to about 90 degrees. Depends on where your at.

My grandparents own a ranch and it can get very hot up there. They used to have their very own Christmas tree farm. People from the city used to go out to ranch and buy them. It seemed like everybody knew everyone. It was really neat. My grandfather had built the ranch when my dad was just a little kid. It had a water well, tractor's, barns, a greenhouse, horses, chickens, pigs, you name it, it had it. It was good old fashioned farm!! I still visit once a year, and it's great to see it.

Lompoc is definitely growing, though. They have built so many new stores, buildings, and houses. There used to be a lot of vacant land, but now it's being taken up a little each day.

I went to school in Lompoc from preschool till second grade. Then i went to school on the base when my parents got married. I went to school on the base from second grade till fifth grade. I loved going to school and was getting very good grades there. Then my step-dad got orders to come here, Colorado. And boy, is there a difference.
