Annie's Autograph Book

Annie's Autograph Book

I think that this is the most irreplaceable possession of Annie's that I have.  It's a book of autographs and drawings by her classmates from school.  Most of the entries are from 1935, when she was 13 years old, which would put her in 7th grade.  It was common for friends to exchange books, and make drawings, poems, and good luck wishes to each other.  This page is from a friend with whom Annie kept in touch with, yearly, until she passed away, and it includes an Edelweiss flower which has been pressed and dried in the book since her friend made the entry, over 68 years ago.  One thing that struck me about every entry is the immaculate penmanship on every page, and I mean PENmanship . . . no ballpoints here, this was pen and ink, with nib.  Some of the writing is actually artistic in its perfection, and the whole book really is a part of another era, and world.

This page is best viewed with a sense of Nostalgia
