Recently, one of our dear friends (Erika) moved away. Judy was, originally, a replacement for Erika. At first, we planned on mailing the photos to Erika with captions like "See? We're having fun even though you're not here!" and "See? Judy can be fun too." Somewhere along the way though, Judy grew from a joke, to an obsession!
Once we realised what huge smiles Judy could put on stranger's faces, we took her with us everywhere! We no longer talked about Judy like she was a doll. Judy became a friend, an imaginary friend, but a friend nonetheless.
We tattooed Judy. She now has Erika's tattoo on her ankle, Freya's tattoo on the small of her back, and Brie's tattoo on her shoulder blade. Judy embodies everyone. And now that Freya and Brie have moved to Toronto, Judy will be my sole responsibility! Judy is my replacement friend, and because of her, I will never be lonely again!
Judy is also fraught with symbolism. She does things that we all WANT to do, but something holds us back. She flirts to extremes with men on the other side of the bar. She tells waitresses off. She flashes strangers on the street. She knocks over glasses of water in Boston Pizza and never gets kicked out! Judy is us, without any restraints or social know-how. Judy is also our last imaginary friend. Now that we're quickly approaching the big Two-O mark, we'll have to grow up (maybe). Judy is our last ditch effort at being childish in public (maybe)! Judy is us, saying goodbye to being kids, but with a bang!
Judy is a boy magnet. They cat call, and hoot "what a doll!" on the street. They ask for her number, invite her out for drinks, beg for dates, and ask her what she's doing out of their bedroom! Boys, boys, boys!!! Dolls deserve lives too! It's not fair to leave the poor girls locked up in your closet, or deflated in your top drawer till you need them again! I understand the attraction here, but can you imagine how they must feel? Our mission, is to introduce Judy to the streets, to prove that dolls deserve lives too!
So if you ever see me walking down Whyte Ave. with our Judy, don't look at her with disgust, she's not a sex doll! Simply a party doll (no orifices). Don't kick or punch poor Judy! Dolls have feelings too! Just smile, or wave back, or blow her kisses. Ask her how her day has been! Give her a ^5! Hug her! Kiss her! Love her!!! How could you not love Judy?? EVERYBODY LOVES JUDY!!!!!!!!!!!!
