The Spectrum Wars All Time Hall Of Fame

These are awards for the greatest accomplishments in all Spectrum Wars games so far. Nominations for further awards are always accepted.

Napoleon's Hat Award: Martin Hohner. Martin planned and executed some of the biggest and most successful wars in the history of the game. The first SAC invasion of India in SW2, and the various NATO/ATA invasions of SW3, including the attacks on Blue, Olive, Grey, Cyan, and Purple, were all planned by Martin. What's more amazing is that in three of these wars (Grey, Blue, and Cyan), the only units lost among his allies were due to typos in other player's orders or silly Moderator interference. One of the reasons Martin has volunteered to be moderator of SW4 is that he doubts anyone will trust him again, and wherever he starts out, he expects his neighbors to try and eliminate him the very first turn before he has a chance to build another coalition.

Bismarck's Mustache Award: Chris Yarwood. In three games, Chris has shown himself to be the master diplomat. Someone once hit the nail on the head when they said that Chris could make ANYONE look like the enemy. Personally, I think he is a little bit too paranoid for his own good, but he has shown a great ability to build coalitions against common enemies, and to know when to make and when to break treaties.

Churchill's Cigar Award: Alexis Stratton. Alexis can always be counted on to write articles for the newsletters, and they are almost all speeches and propaganda pieces about how great a leader she is and how much her people love her. She's proven herself to be quite the orator, however, and always takes the moral high road.

Kaiser Wilhem II's Spiked Helmet Award: Marcus Johnston. In SW3, Marcus took over in the single strongest position of the game…and, within one turn, had managed to go from a leader of the most powerful alliance in the game, to being isolated, attacked, and conquered by a world-wide alliance. This will probably remain in Spectrum Wars history as the single quickest reversal of fortune, ever. This almost got named the "Seth Thomas Memorial Award", but I restrained myself. I think we make fun of Seth too much as it is. It's fun, though…

P.T. Barnum Memorial "There's One Born Every Minute" Award: Ryan Calhoun (Grey Jademen). Ryan fell for the biggest backstab scheme in the history of the game. While all of Grey's units were busy helping Black invade Cyan, Grey was invaded by the ATA and NATO. For some reason, Ryan thought he could trust the ATA to help him launch an attack on NATO. Instead, the Brown Brahmins concocted a devious scheme that led Grey to march his troops into an isolated mountain valley in Ethiopia, bury his nuclear weapons under a dam in Turkey, sail his ships into a harbor in India, and land his planes at airfields in Somalia. Then, instead of hiding Grey's military forces and nuking NATO, the ATA bombed Grey's troops in Ethiopia, captured his planes in Somalia, sabotaged his ships in India, and blew up those hydroelectric dams in Turkey, burying Grey's nukes under thousands of tons of mud and rubble. Grey's entire military was destroyed, and all the ATA/NATO allies lost was a handful of carrier planes and submarines in an opening naval skirmish. However, Ryan has been a good sport about the whole thing, and will be coming back for SW4. Luckily, the player Ryan most wants revenge against won't be playing…he'll be the moderator. Hee hee!
