The Muffler Man represents the
finest of a vanishing national identity.
Roadside Americana that
symbolized a growing nation, big and vibrant.
Right hand up, left hand down,
these 18' and 25' behemoths once held mufflers in their
mighty hands.
These days, the "King of
Kitsch" is used in a variety of ways from sea to
shining sea. They vanish, only to reappear years
later, down the street with new clothes and shiny new
props.
To the modern road warrior, a
Muffler Man sighting is akin to finding the Holy Grail,
and a great reason to ride. |

Man."
2. Become the FIRST motorcycle rider to
discover a Muffler Man.

3. Submit a picture before
someone else does. First in WINS.
The .jpg file must be no larger
than 300kb in size. Please, no funky bitmaps or
others.
4. Your pic MUST contain the
following....

- Clear and concise details on the
Muffler Man's current location. (Business name &
website, address, city, state & cross streets. GPS
coordinates are really cool. Anything that will help
others find the location)
6. The following info is purely
optional....
- Your home town, territory, planet or
galaxy of origin.
- Riding Organization(s) or Riding Club
- Motorcycle Rights Organization(s)
you're a member of.
The fine print.
Muffler Man, Uniroyal Gal, Halfwit, Big
Friend, Big John or Indian must be clearly visible in the
background.
NO altered or digitally enhanced pics.
Spouses, friends & pets OK. Children
will be posted ONLY with parental release.
Pic must contain an OFFICIAL MUFFLER MAN, or
we can't use it. Splatt's considers all human
figures manufactured by the International Fiberglass
Company from 1963-1974 to be an "OFFICIAL MUFFLER
MAN" entry. Uniroyal Gals, Half-Wits, Big
Friends, Big Johns and Indians are the rarest of the rare
and extremely desirable, highly sought after prizes worthy
of Honorable Mention Status here on Splatt's. Sorry,
we're not lookin' for livestock at this point in time.
Should a Muffler Man be decorated in
holiday garb, or move down the street, or get a new set of
clothes, this will re-qualify as an entirely NEW finding.
Our objective is to become the first
special interest group in America to completely document
every Muffler Man out there.
States of particular relevance:
Delaware, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, South Carolina,
Vermont. There have been NO sightings EVER reported
in these states. If anybody can find 'em...it'll be
a Biker, one of us.
