The Great Sugar Debate It is a familiar scene at all home
games at White Hart Lane, Alan sugar's Rolls Royce parked at the VIP
garage for all to see. A sign of a success story. So how come we are not seeing any of
that money being poured in to re-establish Spurs as a European
power. Before we sharpen the knives for the kill( and mine is right next
me), lets give credit where its due. Alan Sugar has been good for Spurs.
He has turned around a club which was on the brink of financial
collapse into a profitable entity and has ensured that the club's
coffers is fat enough to ensure that we can afford to get knocked
out in early rounds of cup competitions. In the early 90's Irving Scholar's mismanagement
was there for all to see. He nearly ran the club aground with the
Football League threatening to to take drastic action if
irregularities were not corrected. I remember being petrified when I was
Sec 2 with the threat to relegate Spurs and couldn't then comprehend
why. Well in stepped the Sugar Daddy with his fortunate made in electronics
and rescued Tottenham Hotspur FC PLC .Those with longer memories
than most are still grateful. Which is why though I will continue
to scream for Sugar's blood from time to time on this site, publicly
at least I will not ask for his head. He deserves that much I feel. But how long can we continue with his
tight fisted reign. No very long I feel .George Graham has said he
will be satisfied with a top ten finish. Bloody Gooner.Again this
lack of ambition is frustating. It clearly demonstrates a lack of
drive and foresight from the chairman himself. Alan Sugar has to sit down and think
what he wants from this season. Should by some chance he decides to
go results and success then the cash should be coughed up. If not
then well ....I give up. Come on Sugar we still remember how swooped
to prise Juergen Klinsmann...more of that and (excuse the pun) the
season ahead may not be as sour as the previous ones |
