The story
It's the year 2015.The ice on the polar circle has begun to melt down. Suddenly, a strange group of entities called "ANGELS" attack a construction site for a new city in the Tokyo area. Nobody knows who they are or where they come from but it seems like they are challenging the humans with their skills and supernatural powers. The earth's answer to these angels comes in the form of a sort of giant robots,EVANGELIONS,driven by youngsters. Shinji Ikari, one of the three main characters, is chosen by NERV to operate such an Evangelion. Nerv is an agency related to the UN. The battle for the fate of humanity begins...
The writing
The series contains a lot of action , a mysterious story and a lot of other sub-plots. The tension and drama are always well done. Gainax has made a worthy successor to Nadia. Surely, this must be one of the greatest anime series ever.
