Akira Toriyama, one of the most popular manga artists of all time, still authors them to this day (with his latest work being Sand Land). Born on April 5, 1955, this shy, chain-smoking manga artist has managed to capture the hearts of millions with his famous Dr. Slump and Dragonball manga. In addition, he's contributed to the designed of various popular videogame series

1974 4 Graduates from the design department of the Prefectural Industrial High School
- Joins a design company as an advertising designer
1977 3 Toriyama-San leaves the aforementioned design company
1978 - Shueisha awards Akira Toriyama with the Weekly Shonen Jump's "Monthly Young Jump" award (now known as the "Hop Step" award).
