The Harrasment of SG-1

Chapter 2
Back to Chapter 1
As soon as both SG-1 and SG-13 had assembled in the 'Gate room, General Hammond ordered PX4-379 to be dialed up. The two groups waited, somewhat patiently, for the chevrons to lock.
"I have a bad feeling I forgot something," Bryn complained.
"You always say that," Cara told her.
"I know. I can't help it, I'm terrible at packing."
"Bryn, you brought everything except the kitchen sink, relax," Becca said.
"So, um, why are you guys wearing blue?" O'Neill asked.
SG-13 stared at him for a second like he had grown a second head. "We like blue," Bryn said.
"But it's not standard issue for missions."
"So? We never do anything standard." Cara explained.
"Yeah, it's just not our thing." Becca added.
The seventh chevron locked and the wormhole activated, allowing the two teams to begin their mission. The planet they arrived on was covered in arid grasslands, sporadically decorated with trees, hills, and rivers.
"Oh! I wonder if there are any indigenous equine species here!" Bryn said excitedly.
"Here we go again," Becca sighed.
"What? I am a biologist, this is my job."
"But do you always have to look for horses?"
"Yes! I like horses, and so does Cara."
"Can we move out now?" asked O'Neill.
"Oh, sure." Bryn said.
"Teal'c, take point. Colonel, would you be so kind as to bring up the rear?" O'Neill said as they moved off the Stargate platform, heading west. He fell into step with Teal'c, followed by Bryn and Dr Jackson, who were discussing cultural possibilities, and Becca and Major Carter, who were discussing the newest systems software.
Cara took position behind them, and after a few minutes of silence begins to hum. Before they were 20 meters from the 'Gate, she was singing "Following the Leader" from Peter Pan.
O'Neill just rolled his eyes and mumbled: "This is going to be a very long day."
Two hours later Cara had finally stopped singing, much to the relief of everyone. Carter took up a conversation with her, just to prevent her from starting again.
"I miss Dex," Cara complained.
"Who's Dex?" asked Carter.
"Her robot," said Becca, "and speaking of Dex..."
"What did you do to him this time???" Cara yells.
"Nothing...something...can you hear him saying ribbit ribbit??? And he kind of runs around in circles umm...hopping." Becca explained, ducking behind Carter so that the Major blocked her from Cara.
"Becca!" Cara whined. "Why did you hack into Dex?"
"'Cause you had him follow me around all day singing 'The Star Spangled Banner' at the top of his lungs!"
"That was to get you back for the time you programmed him to only speak in binary! Even I can't speak that!" Cara protested.
"Oh, will you shut up with the robot already?" Bryn exclaimed, smacking them both.
"I get no respect!" said Cara.
"You have a most unusual structure of command," Teal'c commented.
"Don't even think about hitting me," O'Neill told him.
Carter gave them all an odd look and then turned to Cara.
"So what exactly are your specialties?" Major Carter asked Cara.
"Well," replied Cara, after sending one final glare at Becca. "I like building robots and hot-wiring things, Becca hacks into things, and Bryn plays with the animals. All and all we have a good time."
"Aren't you all a little young to be in the Air Force, especially officers?" Sam asked.
"Technically, yes. But for once the Air Force wasn't dumb and decided that three geniuses with specialties in the fields they required for this project were too good to pass up. So they recruited us," Bryn supplied.
"We are intellectually old," added Cara.
Just then Cara stopped dead in her tracks and pointed towards a forest to the north. "Look! Waterbuffalo!" she yelled as she took off running.
Bryn and Becca both said in unison: "Yey, waterbuffalo!" and raced after their CO. This left SG-1 standing alone in the middle of a meadow, completely baffled.
Eventually SG-13 returned from the forest looking rather forlorn. "Maybe if we run faster we will eventually be able to catch them," Becca surmised.
"Yeah," Bryn and Cara replied in unison.
After SG-1 had recovered from the shock of watching an entire team run after imaginary water buffalo, Jack snapped into action, "Okay, on second thought, Colonel Cara and I will take point and Teal'c, you bring up the rear. And no more running off!"
SG-13 nodded in agreement.
"Indeed," Teal'c replied.
