Ranking right up there with one of the first albums I've actually ever owned, Enema of the State is a pretty cool find. Even though it is way too polished and perfect sounding, complete with squeaky clean vocals and everything like that, it is still a nice album. My theory is that if it 1.) hadn't become so popular, and 2.) hadn't been produced like it was a Britney Spears album, meaning sound quality-wise it's perfect, I think this album would be considered a good one by everyone, even the "Blink 182 sold out and therefore I hate them" crowd. See, there is a certain sense of homemade-ness to an album that is sort of scratchy and isn't as clear as possible. Take The Strokes for instance. Their album sounds like they came to Zanesville and recorded in a studio there, because it just doesn't sound as good as possible. It's called analog and it should be used more often. Digital recording is not as rewarding, it's killing the soul of rock and roll! How'd you like that? See, I just rhymed. I like to do that sometimes. Bust a rhyme that is. Okay, if you want to know the whole story, I originally just said that "Digital recording is killing the soul of rock and roll!" but then after I thought about it for a while, I decided that I should have something to rhyme with recording, because I didn't originally. Yeah, I'm not too smart. And I'll apoligize for that. That's about it for now. I like this album though. I used to listen to it at work, and at first I only liked 1 or 2 songs. I really did. And then after a while I got to liking every single one of them. That reminds me of Dude Ranch. When I first bought the Escort, the very first day, on the way home from the dealership, I listened to Dude Ranch. That's cool, 'cause it's memories. And I like memories, because memories are almost always good, if only because you can look back on them. And what the heck, I was waxing all philosophical and whatnot. Sorry, laters.
Stand out tracks: Dumpweed, Don't Leave Me, Going Away To College, What's My Age Again?, Dysentery Gary, Adam's Song, All the Small Things, Mutt, Anthem.
