At the side of the house they have a small garden where they grow red chili and herbs. They have some chickens and ducks and 8 deer not I a field, but in a small compound. The main farm is not next to the house, but 2Km on a hillside. They have a peach orchard and 3 small rice paddies. Again very different from the small farms I have seen in other western countries. There small farmers concentrate on vegetables they don't grow large scale crops like wheat, barley and rice. They are grown in very large fields by big farming companies with large machines, which means the price is very low so it's uneconomic for small farms to grow them. I saw that the farming here is very small scale with baby tractors and miniature rice harvesters. |
I feel sad that they try to good organic farmers, but their peach crop has been badly damaged by insects. Each meal has lots of small dishes: such a lot of work for a housewife. I can't believe it they eat rice and spiced vegetables not just every day, but 3 times a day !

2. MowingWed -Again I learnt a lot.Mr You mowed the orchard with a small weedeater whilst I cleared the small stones. It was pretty hot. Later we went to visit a mushroom farmer. When we came back we drank Maekoli ¸·°í¸® (Korean rice wine). It's like African wheat beer; OK but I prefer ordinary wine. | ![]() |
