4. WOOFing on Communities

I thought I would work in NZ , but the exchange rate meant the wages were extremely low so I decided to WWOOF (working on organic farms) that way I wouldn't earn many money but I wouldn't be spending much so I would have more time to get to learn about the culture and people.

Since I'm particulary interested in Alternative community living I picked communities out of the book.

From the 500 places listed in the WWOOF book what interested me most was Alternative community living . I stayed at 11 communities some were nice enough, but I didn't find the place for me. The one enjoyed the most was Ngahuru Waiora with it's close sense of community and activities like volleyball and playback theatre.

The websites I did for people are

  1. Clearing House Community Cafe
  2. Moehau Community
  3. Ranginui2000 the Celtic Air Festival of Ngahuru Waiora
  4. Riverside Music Festival
  5. Chippenham 30th Anniversary
  6. Friends of Volco.
