Hello Petr, I love your website. I admire John Lennon very much. I thought it was really cool that you are from the Czech Republic. I thought the words on there looked like Czech. My father and mother live in Prague. We are all from America in South Carolina. M father got a job over there and has been living in Prague for over a year now. I visited this summer. I loved it! "Why are you here?", I asked. The answers that followed all made sense to meŠ.. "I loved his music". "To show my respects" "I wanted to see who all would be here". "I donąt really know". "He is my favorite Beatle". This afternoon I took the subway to 72nd Street and Central Park West. I stood by a building called the Dakota, the last place John Lennon lived. I stood in the gateway where he took his last steps on earth, I stared up to the building. I looked at the flowers and signs that were left by the wrought iron fence outside. I looked at the faces in the crowd I stood within. "This is such an older crowdą , I thought to myself. "Where are all the kids?", I wondered. I realized quickly that we are the kids. The kids that suffered the tremendous loss that December night in 1980. I was 23. I got the news when Howard Cosell broadcast it from the Monday Night Football telecast that I was watching. I remember my heart sinking in my chest. It just couldnąt be true, could it? I ran to tell my mother. She came in the room and watched with me as further reports came in. I remember feeling lost. Yes, Iąm a Beatle fan. And I was a fan of John Lennon moreso than the other Beatles. I didnąt understand as well then as I do now why I felt so lost that night. The death of John Lennon was the first great loss of a public figure important in my world. I knew something terrible had happened to the Kennedys, and I was sad when Elvis died. But the death of Lennon affected me differently. It was if someone had done something to me personally. I still feel that way today, but now I understand why. True artists are very rare. Artists with conviction toward their work, that make no compromises to please anyone or to fit into any scene come along very seldom. And a man that can prioritize what is important in life, and walk away from money and the limelight is even more rare. John Lennon wrote beautiful songs, hard edged political songs, and songs that begged for peace. He wrote songs to a mother he never had, and he paid respect to the "Working Class Heroes". He was a man that realized the mistakes he made as a famous young man and chose to raise his newly born son Sean instead of pursuing music at that time. And then he wrote more songs that beautifully described what that part of his life felt like on his "Double Fantasy " album. True artists give us what they feel. It is up to us to find it, listen to it, and feel from it. I do today, I did in 1980. But it took years to understand why I felt so much. It took seeing a lot of life , and very little art. And very few artists. Listen to "Imagine" after you read this. Then listen to the radio or watch MTV or VH1 as long as you like and tell me when you hear anything as important or as sincere. My bet is that you wonąt. It is so sad, still today. We are poorer in a way that takes some time to understand. So why did I go to the Dakota this afternoon? Because I finally

Tak jsem si precetla ten clanek, cos napsal o Johnovi... no, reknu ti, popravde je to hodne zaujaty, vis? A ja jsem zrovna ten fanousek (i kdyz Johnuv ne tak velkej), co rika, ze Yoko byla teda pekna K..VA, ta nejbezcitnejsi, nejvypocitavejsi a nejlinejsi nepporadna mrcha, ktera Johnovi zkazila zivot, protoze se ji vcelku nedokazal v nicem postavit.A to tvrdim, jestli je pravda jen pulka Seamanovy knizky. Je mi Johna hluboce lito, on totiz neumrel osmyho prosince, on umiral v bolestech duse odd ty doby, co mohl mit vsechno, jen ne lasku...tu teda s Yoko nikdy nemel.
