Ogino Chihiro

Spoilt and whiny, the heroine of the story soon learned to discover her own inner strength along with her new-found friends. In fact, it becomes clearer as the story progresses that this 10 year-old has a heart bigger than than the bathhouse itself.
Haku

Yubaaba's right-hand man, he was actually under Yubaaba's control most of the time before being freed unwittingly by Chihiro. Fortunately, it does not prevent him from helping Chihiro, nor remembering about her. This dragon was a river spirit before developers built over it.
Chihiro's Father

To put it simply, he is the confident type who acts before he thinks. He is also an optimist, perhaps too optimistic at times, or at least enough to make the rest of his family worry.
Chihiro's Mother

Chihiro's mother is ordinary. She seems to only care half-heartedly about Chihiro, although this could be only because Chihiro is a tough one to handle in the first place, and complains more often than needed.
Yubaaba

The old crone rules the roost, and makes it very plainly known in the bath house. Very miserly with very expensive albeit weird tastes and very doting on her son. She is not really a bad woman, just your typical money-hungry boss and occasionally shows her good side.
Lin/Rin

Lin is just another worker in the bathhouse with a short temper and a tongue as sharp as a knife. She watches over Chihiro as a partner and as a sister, and hence dishes out more than a few spiteful comments. Yet in the end this vixen still cares much for her fellow friends and workers. She is also well acquainted with Kamajii.
*Her name is spelled as Rin but most English sources spells it as Lin.
Kamajii

In his own words, Kamajii is a slave in the bath house, in charge of the fires, water, herbs and probably a few other tasks. The spider spirit needs little help though, not when he has six extendable arms to work with. His only companions most of the time are the sootballs who carry the coal.
Susuwatari/Sootballs

These cute fuzzies that first appeared in My Neighbour Totoro work with Kamajii in the boiler room, dumping coal into the furnace. Being nothing but soot, they can split and multiply too.
Kaonashi

If looks can kill, the Kaonashi, meaning faceless, should be of no harm. Yet it dishes out more trouble than the greedy workers can handle. His motives are never clear, including reasons as to why Chihiro is the only person he is willing to help and listen to.
Bou

It may not seem apparent in the beginning but Bou clearly plays a rather big part as the movie progresses. According to some, he is actually already well into adulthood. Not surprising, considering his size, and probably only remains the way he is due to his mother Yubaaba being over-protective.
