How it's Done:
Trolling: By far my favorite method. Set up your rig after getting to the area where the bite is. We like to do it in a reverse order to prevent tangles. Be careful not to let go until its all snapped together. The first thing is to securely tie the sinker release to your main line. Snug the anchovie in the rotary and put it over the side. Clip it to the flasher. Attach the flasher to the salmon leader and let it out the boat. Clip the leader to the sinker release. Now add your weight. As you lower it into the water watch the action of the rig. Your depth will be determined by the amount of weight and how much line is let out. I like 20 - 30 pulls. I also like to start with the lighter weight and go more pulls to get deeper. Our boat has a V8 so we idle down as far as possible. Now turn on the clicker and adjust the drag just tight enough to keep the line from running out. Set the rod in the holder and the clicker will signal the strike.
Mooching: I have only done this a few times. It can be productive if you locate a large school of fish. Mooching is just drifting with a bait in the water. When your bait is at the desired depth set the rod in the holder. Watch the rod tip for strikes.
