JP Fenix was in his senior year in Economics at the Ateneo de Manila when he joined Mr.&Ms. Special Edition as a political cartoonist shortly after the 1983 assassination of Ninoy Aquino. Upon graduating he joined the publication as staffwriter and later helped found the Philippine Daily Inquirer. His works have caused official action and policy changes, including the reopening of the Aquino assassination case by the Supreme Court which eventually resulted in the conviction of the military conspirators. Fenix currently runs a communications management and public affairs company.
