here's a first installment of my poem collection page. many of the poems will come from personal friends. i wanted them to have the opportunity to let other people read their talent:

I & You
I held out my hands and you reached out for it.
Our fingertips touched, but they never intertwined.
You looked at me, but you didn't catch my eye.
I looked at you, but then you turned away.
You told me your life story and I listened intently.
I whispered I love you, but you didn't even hear.
Wasn't I willing to sacrifice?
Didn't you notice my pain?
Our backs were turned, no words were said.
A moment of hesitation between you and I.
I truly believed in you, but you couldn't trust my word.
I needed your understanding, but you didn't let me explain.
I let that go, you said good bye.
And I'm left wondering what happened between us.
You call me your friend, but the feelings still linger.
I tried to adjust, but the truth is becoming clear.
Is that the real you?
Do you know the real me?
I have my opinions, you have no clue.
All that I see is not what you see.
And now I am here, and now you are there.
I should have said what was on my mind.
You could have admitted that you were wrong.
We would never have had to say good bye...
I wipe that tear, you go on with your life.
We can be friends, but it's just not the same.
I could hold on, but you give me no reason.
You've broken my heart, but I can laugh through my tears.
And as I let go, the confusion is still there.
Doors are still open and the ends left untied.
I'm left to think but you always seem to forget.
I'm still looking for answers, but you've already given up.
And as I step back, I'm still left to wonder.
How is that I and you became endangered by love.
