Emma Deese Reede
My Grandma
Words fail me here. This was one terrific woman. I was
privileged to have Grandma Reede live with me the last couple
of years of her life. She had diabetes and macular degeneration
in her later years and never complained.Somehow she made life easier
for those around her rather than more complicated. She was full of stories
about her life.
Here's a rare photo of Grandma dressed up for a wedding in the early 40's.
Grandma worked at Hartford Hospital and we loved to visit her
and Grandpa there. My brother and I went behind the scenes.
She worked in the sterilization area.
The rooms filled with rubber gloves hanging from lines were
spooky. Our favoite place was the kitchen where we would visit
our friend Alec and get some ice cream.
Grandma loved to travel. Here she's got her Dodge station wagon
packed and she's headed to California. She never seemed to tire
of traveling.
