Mirani Sugar Valley Lions Club
Club History
Charter:
The Mirani Sugar Valley Lions Club was
chartered on the 30th of June, 1981 with 20 members. The club was sponsored by
Sarina Lions Club. Five months later it sponsored the start of the Mirani Sugar Valley
Lioness Club.
Projects & Service:
From the club's first project of the Red Cross Hall at Pinnacle, it has maintained
a strong commitment to the community. Since this beginning the club has seen alot of
service, including -
- Operate a food stall at Finch Hatton Show for several years
- Hosted some of the Combined Service Club dinners with Rotary and Apex Clubs
- Catered for a Sugar Experimental Conference
- Established and maintained two Lions Parks at one at Marian and one at Finch Hatton
- Fund-Raising efforts have purchased the Jaws of Life which was then donated to the
Finch Hatton Ambulance
- Fund-Raising efforts have also purchased a fire appliance at Finch Hatton
- Also benefitting
- the Finch Hatton Show Hall,
- the Pioneer Valley Golf Club House
- Lions Camp Kanga where the club is responsible for the maintenance of a cabin.
- Other achievements include
- The painting and area improvements of the Girl Guide Hut at Marian
- The erection of a barbeque in the Lions Park at Marian.
- The club has also assisted in the building of
- The Pioner Valley Pre-school and Kindergarten at Mirani.
- The building of special education playground at Marian School
- The club sponsors the trophy to Mirani High School's Consistently High Achiever.
In 2002 the Gargett Branch club was formed
as an extenion of the Mirani Sugar Valley Lions.
