This trail ride is a true Vermont adventure. It starts with a 20-minute lesson that lets you get comfortable with your horse. Then you'll hit the trail. After 1¾ hours winding around the base and up the slope of beautiful Stratton Mountain, you'll reach the secluded Mid-Mountain Lodge, which affords spectacular views and comfortable accommodations. There's no roughin' it on this trip unless you insist. Die-hard campers who love the night air can sleep outdoors - tents are provided! If you prefer civilization, you can sleep indoors on comfy air mattresses with sheets and pillows. All you need to bring is a change of clothes, a toothbrush, and a camera to record the good times.
Be ready for fun once you reach the Lodge. You can play volleyball or try your hand at (what else?) horseshoes. If you'd like to pitch in with brushing and feeding your horse, the wranglers will be glad to show you how. Or you can kick back and relax. Whatever you choose, you'll be ready for a mouth-watering meal of steak or chicken with all the fixin's: baked beans, baked potato, fresh corn on the cob, garden salad, and hot rolls. Later you can toast marshmallows over the campfire and make s'moresMMM, good!
After a restful night, you'll get another taste of cowboy life when you rise early and have a hearty breakfast that will leave you full till dinner time. An hour ride back down the mountain as the wildlife awakens will let you enjoy the peace and beauty found only in the morning woods.
