Sleepers

You are a sleeping cat.

golden fur like scorched Africa.

I stroke you, hands in your mane,

a tangled torment, and lick you

with a rasping tongue.

Sleep on and purr,

I am the same as you.

I lick the skin off my fur too

and fall into your sleeping dreams.

We have eaten the humans inside us.

We are sleeping cats.
