The Beatles Brazilian Discography

New Releases

Notes:

These albums were only released on imported CDs. Only the first two (the "Red" and "Blue" albums) had cassette versions, made in Brazil.
This is because the Apple/EMI decision of only make the new Beatles' records by the own EMI factories. As EMI doesn't have a CD factory in Brazil (their CDs are made by independent factories hired by EMI), these new releases had to be imported.
(although CDs of the original collection, released before this agreement, are normally made in Brazil)

Most of the CDs are offically imported by EMI from Europe, including packaging. Only Live at the BBC have packaging made in Brazil, but the disks are imported. Independent importers (usually specialized record shops) have also brought some CDs from the United States, easily identified by the "Capitol" logo.

LP versions of BBC and Anthology were not released because of the reducing LP market in Brazil in the 90's - in 1996 LPs were only 5% of record sales so all factories decided to discontinue their vinyl catalogs. Some (very few!) LPs though, were brought by independent importers, as collectors' items.

The other new releases - the boxes of EPs and singles, and the new CD singles Baby It's You, Free As A Bird and Real Love - were only brought by independent importers in small amounts, being this way very hard to find and expensive.

Also, as the CD singles aren't officially imported (the Brazilian recording market doesn't deal with any kind of singles since 1985), the  "B-sides" of the recent singles are still officially UNRELEASED in Brazil - and will probably be forever unless they are included in a regular album (compilation), what is highly improbable (I think) because of the bureaucracy Apple has adopted in recent years.
NEWS: Recently, recording factories announced the release of CD singles in Brazil between April-May 1997, so the Beatles' recent singles may finally be officially imported.
