REVISION HISTORY

Sunday, 9th January 2000:
Throughout the end of 1999 and the start of Y2K I remodelled the site into the present form. For a while I had javascript enabled with pop-up windows, but v3 interferes with the java and screws it up. Consequently I've made it javafree (which also gets rid of Geocities' pop-ups). Should I get the opportunity to move this somewhere real, I will java-enable the site.
I am also using a complex frame arrangement on every page to avoid the use of frames.

Tuesday, 24th August 1999:
Made an aesthetic overhaul, creating a uniform template for site pages.

Sunday, 8th November:
Major overhaul to coincide with the release of Melusine - never completely happy with the overall hanging together of the site, I have themed it together, and integrated everything so that the whole site is uniform. New icons, buttons, headers, formatting and everything. Version 2.4 217 files, 7.40 MBs (excluding audio files)

Sunday, 6th September:
Cosmetic revisions. Discography and Pictures split into triples, re-ordering of buttons, plus renamed "Downloads" to "Music/Songs". Changed the text on Digital Art so its not so damn cheesey.

Monday, 3rd August:
Changed left frame from an imagemap to buttons, plus added a "Downloads" page (moving that part of the index onto its own html page). Also general cosmetic touches.

Saturday, 20th June:
Added the title screen so that the index has less graphics and loads faster. Extra text to illustrate that the site IS indeed substance, not surface. Inverted the chronology of the Articles so that the most recent are at the top (why I never did this before...) Put my "Sentimental Fool" remix at the site for download. General tidy up auch. Now have 11 Megs at geocities.

Sunday, 17th May:
Lots of tidying up here and there. Oft-neglected html like the links page cleaned up, and made more presentable. With all this new traffic I must make sure its as polished as it can be. Added plenty of news recently, and some pictures as well. Does anybody ever read this? No...I didn't think so.

Saturday, 4th April:
Major overhaul of the page today. Now that I have the 6 megs of space, I thumbnailed all the pictures (to replace those in the gallery) and included the larger file sized, better quality versions. Also tidied up the intro page, and downsized the odd thing here and there to speed up the page. Thanx to thumbnails the pages load faster, and thanks to having better quality pictures, the page now takes up 5.81 MEGS. Gosh. And to think I used to feel that 1 MEG would be enough... Other big news: thanks to come.to, the page now has a domain name at http://listen.to/janhellriegel which links to this geocities site.

Monday, 23rd March:
My God! Geocities has given me 6 megs to play around with! I think I'll put up more songs with that space :D

Tuesday, 10th March 1998:
Been a while since last update, that's for sure. I have a new letter from Jan with which I updated the News page. Also I made some Jan-art which I put up as the Digital Photo Gallery. Lastly, Richard Anderson is sending me scans of 3 more Jan singles, from the album "It's My Sin". Unfortunately, I still do not have any for myself yet.

Wednesday, 26th November:
Went cruising the net and found two other Jan-relevant pages, linked them, and placed copies of the HTML here. Scored two new pictures, a couple of things to add to the biography and some more discography info.

Saturday, 22nd November:
Lyrics completed, and legal warnings added to the pages.

Friday, 21st November:
Added more lyrics (almost done) and polished touches such as the onMouse commands for the imagemap.

Wednesday, 19th November:
"The Way I Feel" set up as a streamed RA song (with an RAM meta file so that the song cannot be recorded), and the "Private Wasteland" album by Cassandra's Ears has been added to the picture gallery. I guess this means the requisite smiles :) :)

Sunday, 16th November:
Well the imagemap is long since done, and I've downsized the JPEG quality so the index page loads much faster (215k down to 47k for the title!) Next up is streamed RealAudio of a Jan Hellriegel song. Just have to decide which songs, and then get permission. :)

Friday, 10th October:
...then again, maybe I won't. Especially not now that Jan and Warner are no longer a team. Anyway, I have completely overhauled the page again. (It's funny how everytime I come to fix up the site, there seems to be so much I can do!) I have made a better title logo, easier to read and prettier to look at. Plus I have added an IMAGEMAP!!!! All that needs to be done now is for me to set up the hot spots and links. Which I'll do as soon as I download an editor.
Jan Hellriegel page now one year old!

Wednesday, 17th September:
Just the usual spot changes; spelling mistakes and cosmetics largely. Having now bought a SCANNER :) :) I have been able to quickly finish off the articles using OCR (optical character recognition) software, to scan and convert straight to text. Boy does that save time. Also, having wrangled Netscape ftp, I have put up a NZ mirror site at ihug. Geocities have offered me a GeoPlus site, so maybe I'll ask Warner if they'll fund it...

Thursday, 7th August 1997:
Goodness! It's been almost half a year since I updated this, and boy has the page changed. Well, basically I've done more lyrics (finished "It's My Sin"), and added a link to the specific albums. Plus I've typed more articles etc etc.
I no longer have ftp troubles or anything, but I will be moving the site to ihug some time (hopefully) which will give me 5 MEGS to work with. I designed and added a background image too. Other than that the biggest development is my introduction of FRAMES!!! Yes! Finally I have working frames, thanks to Sausage Software's "Frame Gang" (and also to Gary Henson for straightening out a problem with index to target links). So far everything is looking good. I'm also using Sausage's "Bandwith Buster" to increase the load speeds of the page.

Wednesday, 18th December:
Heaps of change by now. Got in contact with Warner Music (via Jan herself) and got my greedy hands on plenty of articles and info, inc. information about Jan Hellriegel's earlier band, "Cassandra's Ears", which will also be included at this site. Several articles now typed in, and other revision done. Also having some trouble with Geocities' FTP so it hasn't been updated for a long time. 7:15PM - Just completed swish intro graphic!

Wednesday 6th November:
Geez, in this big gap I did tons of work on this. I uploaded the original version of the homepage, and since then I added button textures that I painted myself. I filled in more links and submitted the page to a couple of search engines. The page looks FAR better now than it did to start with.

Monday 14th October:
Fixed a problem that was buggin me about page size. I was misreading the stats and thought each html was taking a MB, but now I know they're really small and that 1MB at my server should be fine. Thinking about using the geocities space to store the pictures (or vice versa). Pics still quite big, will have to downgrade. :( On the other hand, I did get some more lyrics typed, and uploaded for the first time (hopefully).

Thursday 10th October:
Typed in some lyrics, tidied links, and added this page.

Wednesday 9th October:
Found Geocities! and grabbed a vacant house on Sunset Strip. Did some more general revision.

Tuesday 8th October:
Wrote the beginnings of the pages then went hunting for more SPACE!

Monday 7th October, 1996:
Figured out Hypertext (using Netscape 3.0), and realised that HTML files are huge and that I couldn't fit very much on my local server.
